Chelsea To Struggle For Top 4
Speaking exclusively to Genting, he said: “I still think that Chelsea could struggle to finish in the top four. I think that they look like they are behind Arsenal and Tottenham this season, so it will be very difficult for Chelsea.
“I haven’t seen too many positive things. Even Tuchel has said that at the back, they are too weak. They are not strong enough and are making many mistakes. When you make mistakes like they have, it means you can concede a goal at any time.
“They lost to Southampton and Leeds. They drew at home to Tottenham. They were lucky to beat West Ham over the weekend and didn’t deserve to win that game.
“They haven’t shown me many positive signs. The question is how Tuchel can make them better. They have signed the players that he wanted, so now it is up to him to make Chelsea competitive within the Premier League.
“I don’t feel like it is crazy to criticise Tuchel at this moment in time. What everyone expects in football is results and Chelsea’s haven’t been great this season.
“We know what he did with Chelsea was fantastic; winning the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
“Yes, he has taken Chelsea to some cup finals they have lost [but] he hasn’t won the Premier League yet, which is the one the fans want now because they want their team to be English champions again.
“This is why he is facing criticism. Everyone forgets what he has achieved in football because they want immediate results. The fans want to win now.
“What I have seen from Chelsea, I am just a little bit worried. I am worried about the style of play and the lack of movement. I am worried that some of the players they have signed are not at the level required to play for Chelsea.”
Tuchel Doesn't Know Best Team
Gallas has also suggested that Tuchel does not quite know what his best team is, and the Frenchman feels this is hampering the club’s fortunes.
“Tuchel doesn’t know who is in his best team at the moment because some of the players haven’t been performing for him this season,” he continued.
“I think Tuchel feels like he has to change his team all of the time at the moment.
“When I used to play for Chelsea, when we won two Premier League titles, the team was always more or less the same. Every week we performed and the manager was happy.
“Maybe one or two players would come in for the next game to give some players a rest, but the performances would be the same.”
