Liverpool v Tottenham Preview And Predictions - Premier League Week 36

Liverpool and Spurs bring the curtain down on a busy Saturday of Premier League action when they clash at Anfield in the late kick-off. Jurgen Klopp's men are still in the hunt for the quadruple after securing their spot in the Champions League Final midweek, and the German will be well aware that nothing short of the win against Antonio Conte's men will keep them in the running for the Premier League title. Recent Form

Liverpool survived a first-half scare midweek to keep their quadruple bid alive, with the eventual 3-2 victory handing them a comfortable 5-2 aggregate scoreline in the end. That leaves them on a six-game winning streak, during which time they've taken down Man City, Man Utd, Merseyside rivals Everton, a resurgent Newcastle, as well as Villarreal twice.

Jurgen Klopp's men have now won 22 of 26 games over 90 minutes, with their only defeat over this period of little consequence as it came in the second leg of their tie with Inter Milan a couple of months ago. Chelsea took them to penalties in the League Cup final, while the only other teams to earn a stalemate with the Reds were Man City and Benfica.

Tottenham are still very much in the hunt for a top four finish, especially given they have a huge North London derby with Arsenal up next. However, with the Gunners hosting Leeds on Sunday, a positive result here would go a long way to achieving their aims, as a defeat here could well see them enter that clash five points adrift of Mikel Arteta's side.

Liverpool To Win And Both Teams To Score

The reverse fixture was a pulsating 2-2 draw and head-to-head encounters between these two sides in recent times have featured plenty of goals, though Liverpool were without a number of key players in that most recent meeting - including Virgil van Dijk.

Both teams have scored in eight of 10 meetings since 2017/18, while the same eight games also saw a minimum of three goals - including all three since 2020/21.

Liverpool To Win 2-1

Liverpool may have conceded a league low of seven goals at home this term, but haven't shut out Spurs at Anfield over the past four campaigns. The visitors haven't exactly enjoyed their trips here though, last tasting victory back in 2011, with each of their past three visits ending in 2-1 defeats.

Across all competitions, Spurs are W2-D1-L7 against their fellow top-six sides this term, and it's difficult to see them toppling Liverpool given the hosts' current vein of form.

Still, Tottenham have bagged 12 goals across their past five league trips, and their strongest department is undoubtedly up front with star duo Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.

However, Liverpool are hardly struggling in that respect, with Luis Diaz sure to be handed a chance from the off here following his midweek performance, as Klopp even has the luxury of a fully fit squad with Roberto Firmino returning to fitness.

PREDICTIONS:

LIVERPOOL TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE

LIVERPOOL TO WIN 2-1
