It’s been a discouraging start to the season for Kilmarnock, who needed an injury-time equalizer against a 10-man Dundee Utd to rescue a point at home on the opening day, before going down to a fairly routine 2-0 defeat to Rangers.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men did take until the second half to find the breakthrough, but in truth they dominated the game, as Killie offered little threat going forwards.

Celtic have won 28 of 33 unbeaten league games since the start of October, kicking off the new campaign with comfortable 2-0 and 3-1 victories over Aberdeen and Ross County respectively.

However, whereas the Hoops registered 12 clean sheets in 16 home games over this period, they only managed six in 17 away days. In fact, going back to April 2021, 22 home games have yielded 17 clean sheets (77%), whereas 23 road trips have produced just seven (30%).

Although Celtic are certainly more susceptible to conceding goals on the road, it’s worth noting that Kilmarnock don’t hold the best of records when facing the Old Firm duo. Since 2020/21, they’ve now managed just a single goal in seven encounters, taking just a single point from these fixtures.

Celtic To Win And Over 2.5 Goals

It’s hard to trust the hosts to find the net then, though Celtic are capable of racking up big scores on their own. They won six of seven clashes with promoted sides last term, with Hearts getting the better of them on the opening day, though Ange Postecoglou was still getting players in through the door at that point.

The other six games saw Celtic bag at least three goals on four occasions, with Hearts (who finished third in the table) the promoted side to thwart them from reaching that tally.

During Celtic’s 33-game unbeaten streak, Celtic & Over 2.5 Goals has landed 19 times, while they’ve won by a two goal-margin or greater on 18 occasions.

They’ve scored twice at a minimum in 14 of their past 17 games now, and at least three times in 10 of these, and without a watertight defence on their travels, the chances are this game will also feature three or more. Indeed, Celtic & Over 2.5 Goals has also come off in 11 of their past 15 away days.
