Nottingham Forest v West Ham

Nottingham Forest’s first game in the Premier League in 24 years didn’t go as planned, they played poorly from the off and were completely dominated by a better Newcastle team. The fans will have their first taste of Premier League football at The City Ground this sunday and we expect them to unconditionally get behind their team which should provide them a big boost.

The Hammers were bested by the reigning champions after a brace from Erling Haaland, West Ham never managed to get into the game and struggled to get a significant amount of the ball to produce the goals they needed, the Hammers finished the game with 24% possession, though that can be forgiven against the Champions.

Over the last two seasons we have seen a massive shift in power with West Ham, they were once a mid to low level Premier League club, but now see themselves as the favourite to finish the best of the rest (outside the big six). Over these two most recent seasons, they have played six away games against newly promoted sides and have a record of W4-D1-L1 with their only loss coming against Brentford (2-0) last year. They have a fair few injuries to contend with, though Gianluca Scamacca may come into the side as he looked promising when called upon against City.

Chelsea v Tottenham

Chelsea were thoroughly unconvincing against Frank Lampard’s Everton, whilst controlling the flow of the match they failed to provide the killer edge that is required to put teams like Everton to bed. They did walk away with a win thanks to a Jorginho penalty, though they will need to step up to get a result against a strong Spurs side.

Antonio Conte’s men walked over the Saints and even though they went 1-0 down, Spurs showed their quality with their wingbacks providing and exploiting the space relinquished to them. After starting poorly at Spurs, Ryan Sessegnon kicked off his season with a goal and he above all things needed confidence which he will carry on to this game.

Last season, both teams had similar records against sides that finished in the top six with Chelsea have a slightly better string of games W3-D3-L4 compared to Spurs’ W3-D2-L5.

Chelsea really have the edge in the H2H aspect of this matchup, they are undefeated against Spurs in the last seven Premier League games with five of those wins being to-nil (W6-D1). The two main-men at Tottenham, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, have poor records against Chelsea. Kane has played 20 games in all competitions against Chelsea and only has six goals and two assists to show for it. His comrade Son does even worse against the Blues with two goals and not a single assist in 15 games against the South-West London side.
