Celtic v Hearts Preview And Predictions - Scottish Premiership - Phase 2, Match 3

Hearts represent Celtic's toughest challenge from their final three fixtures, with Robbie Neilson's men a clear third best this term - 19 points adrift of Rangers but 17 ahead of Dundee Utd. However, it should be plain sailing for Ange Postecoglou's side from here on in, with their stalemate against Rangers last time out leaving them six points clear of their Old Firm rivals. Recent Form

Although the title is now a mere formality, the hosts will want to get the job done officially as soon as possible, and with a superior goal difference to Rangers, a win here will effectively do that.

The Hoops are now unbeaten in 29 league games, winning 24 of these, while on home turf alone they've won all but one of 11 encounters since November as only Rangers could hold them to a stalemate.

Hearts have won seven of 10 unbeaten games in all competitions, although this impressive spell hasn't seen them encounter either of the Old Firm duo.

The last time they did, they were battered 5-0 at Ibrox, and although they did beat Celtic on the opening day of the campaign at Tynecastle, they've since lost five of six winless meetings with the two Glaswegian giants.

We wouldn't pay too much attention to that win back in July. Celtic did some excellent business in both transfer windows, though at that point Postecoglou was still getting new talent through the door and they've since made significant progress. Neither goalkeeper Joe Hart nor centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers had joined the club by that stage, and the Hoops are yet to lose a league game where the latter has partnered fellow summer signing Carl Starfelt at the back.

Kyogo Furuhashi To Score Anytime

Although Georgios Giakoumakis has netted 12 goals across all competitions in 2022, Kyogo Furuhashi can expect to start his third game in a row having returned from a troublesome hamstring injury.

The Japanese ace returned with a goal at Ross County a couple of weeks ago and has already scored in both of Celtic's home games against Hearts this season, and looks well placed to take advantage of a depleted Hearts defence.

Celtic To Win By One Goal

Craig Halkett, Michael Smith and John Souttar are all out for the visitors, with Stephen Kingsley and Toby Sibbick a likely makeshift partnership at the back.

The absent trio were all missing when Rangers gave them the run around in February, so there should be ample opportunities for Celtic's attacking players to make an impression.

However, Hearts aren't often beaten by wide margins, with six of their nine defeats this season coming by a single-goal margin.

PREDICTIONS:

CELTIC TO WIN BY ONE GOAL

KYOGO FURUHASHI TO SCORE ANYTIME
