Recent Form

The North London clubs occupy two of the top three spots in the Premier League and aside from Manchester City and Liverpool they are the two favourites to make top four (Arsenal 1.48 and Spurs 1.67).

Arsenal have played their brand of football to a very high level this year and despite what people might say about the level of their opponents, the average current league position of their opponents (11.85) has been greater than Tottenham’s (14.42) and Manchester City’s (15.28), with Spurs having already played every team currently in the bottom four: Wolves, West Ham, Leicester, and Nottingham Forest.

At the end of last season, Tottenham had scored the greatest number of goals so far in the calendar year, and that goalscoring form seems to have carried over to this campaign.

The Lilywhites have scored the second most goals in the league behind Man City, and while 10 came against Leicester and Southampton alone, they’ve still managed eight from their other five games.

Heung-Min Son boosted those numbers in their last outing as while he’s not shown the form this season that saw him share the Golden Boot last year, a 13-minute hattrick against Leicester has certainly put his doubters on the back foot.

Over 1.5 First Half Goals

Over the last five seasons, this fixture has been dominated by whomever the home side is with both teams having the same home record of W4-D1. We have to go all the way back to 2014 to find the first away win for either side in the league, while it’s been 12 years since Spurs won at the Emirates in the league (D4-L7).

Over the last ten games played, the first half has had the highest number of goals in seven of the ten matches. This isn’t surprising considering that both teams will want to take the game by the scruff of the neck and get on the scoresheet as early as possible.

What’s more interesting is that there have been eight games where over 1.5 goals in the first half has come off.

This is currently sitting at a long price and seems to be where the value lies, even when you take into account that both sides have only had five games between them this year with over 1.5 goals at the halfway point.

Both Teams To Score

Both teams to score seems like a decent be as well with 57% of Arsenal’s and 71% of Tottenham’s games finishing with that bet coming in.

Six of the ten head-2-heads have had the same result as well. The Gunners have also had 100% of their home games this season finished with both teams scoring.
