Zimbabwe v Netherlands

Zimbabwe pulled off a famous win against Pakistan last Thursday with the game going right down to the wire. The Zimbabweans sit 11th in the world rankings whilst Pakistan sit high up in third. Although it might not mean qualification to the semi-finals, because of their most recent three run loss to Bangladesh, it is only the second time that Zimbabwe have beaten Pakistan in 18 tries.

The Netherlands have been blown out the water by their various opponents in the Super 12. They are yet to score a point after losing to Bangladesh (by nine runs), India (by 56 runs) and most recently Pakistan (by six wickets) when they only managed 91 runs from their allotted overs, Pakistan reached this total in 13.5 overs.

Zimbabwe have produced the highest opening partnership in one of their two games played, which was against Pakistan when they managed 42 whilst Pakistan only hit 13 runs before the first wicket fell. The Netherlands openers haven’t been doing themselves justice so far, their highest opening partnership has been 11 which came against India but then only managed seven and zero in their other attempts.

India v Bangladesh

The Men in Blue have won two of their three games so far and have only come short to South Africa in their latest outing. A good bowling spell from the Proteas meant that India could only muster a score of 133 through 20 overs, which was chased down with two balls and five wickets remaining.

Like India, Bangladesh have won two of their opening three fixtures and their loss was against South Africa. It wasn’t a pretty sight for the Tigers as they were beaten by 104 runs as the Proteas set a gargantuan score of 205.

The odds are heavily in India’s favour going into this one, considering that they’ve only lost one of their last 11 head-to-heads, which came back in 2019 when Bangladesh won by seven wickets. All four games played at a neutral venue have resulted in an India win.

India have had the highest scoring batter in all three of their games, Virat Kohli has got it on two occasions (62* v Netherlands and 82* v Pakistan) whilst the other goes to Suryakumar Yadav. Kohli has the highest average of any T20 player in history and is one of the greatest batsmen of his generation which is why we feel comfortable going with him for top batsman yet again.

HIGHEST SCOREING BATSMAN – VIRAY KOHLI
