IPL 2023 Preview

The 2023 IPL season will start on 31 March 2023 and fans are hoping that the new campaign will be as exciting as the last one.

The world’s largest cricket stadium, the Narendra Modi Stadium, will host the opening game between the Gurjant Tigers and the Chennai Super Kings - two sides who undertook radically-different 2022 campaigns.

Ten teams will play in the 2023 IPL season, and bettors everywhere are intrigued to see what this campaign offers.

IPL 2023 Player Auction

Englishman Sam Curran grabbed all the headlines during the 2023 IPL Player Auction as he became the most expensive player in IPL history back in December.

Curran cost Kings XI Punjab over £1 million and his sale summed up everything the most recent Player Auction was all about - all-rounders being in high-demand.

The newsworthy 2023 Player Auction was one of the IPL’s biggest talking-points last year, and it’ll be fascinating to see what effect it has on the upcoming season.

The Return of Home and Away Fixtures

Over the last four years, the IPL has played its games at neutral stadiums due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2023 season, however, will see the return of home and away fixtures as normality makes a return.

Will Gujarat Titans Retain Their Title?

The 2022 IPL season saw the Gujarat Titans become the second team to win the championship in their first-ever outing and become the only team in the IPL that season to record 10 victories.

Discussion of whether or not the Titans will retain the title has become widespread, with some believing that the Mumbai Indians, five-time IPL winners, will pip the Titans to the title and record their sixth victory.

The Mumbai Indians endured a poor campaign last time out, winning just four of their fourteen games and finishing the season in disappointing fashion. The return of Joffra Archer will be a big boost, however, and IPL fans can expect a much-improved campaign from the serial-winners this time out.

The Rajasthan Royals And The Chennai Super Kings

The Gurjant Titans and the Mumbai Indians may be getting most of the headlines, but IPL fans shouldn’t forget about the Rajasthan Royals as they finished the 2022 season as runners-up and were just two points behind the Titans at the end of the season.

The Royals will hope to better their superb performance last season and, on their day, they can give any team a run for its money.

Four-time winners Chennai Super Kings endured a horrid 2022 campaign, but fans should expect the former champions to bounce back this season. The Super Kings were IPL Champions in 2021 and they certainly know how to string together victories.

The 2023 IPL season begins on 31 March 2023 and its opening fixture will, fittingly, pit reigning-champions the Gurjant Tigers against the Chennai Super Kings.
