Pakistan v South Africa
This is a crucial game for Pakistan, after losing two of their first three they are in jeopardy of going out at the group stages and their only win came in a bit of a mismatch against the Netherlands. Mohammad Rizwan was top scorer in that game and managed just over 50% of Pakistan’s runs as they chased down a score of 91.
South Africa should be three for three in their games, but due to poor weather conditions their first game was called off mid-way through despite only needing 13 more runs from four overs. They smashed Bangladesh by 104 runs and also beat India by five wickets with two balls remaining.
If South Africa can hold the two Pakistani opening batsmen to as many runs as they did to India, they will be in a very good position to win the game. The top three batsmen of India only hit a combined 36 off 39 balls which was easily the biggest factor in their win and whilst Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan haven’t been on top form so far, they are the difference makers in that Pakistan side. We expect South Africa to carry on their fine form here and get another win against a tough opponent.
Quinton de Kock has been in scintillating form so far this world cup, racking up 47 not out in those astonishing three overs against Zimbabwe, while he also knocked an impressive 63 against Bangladesh. He’s averaging 55.5 so far in the competition and has managed three half centuries in his last five innings, and is a strong shout to be his side’s top scorer yet again.
