South Africa v Bangladesh
South Africa’s match against Zimbabwe was very stop and start considering their battle with the elements. Zimbabwe set a lofty target of 79 from their nine overs after a late flurry, and though South Africa put on a showing in their three overs, the rain won on the day and a ‘no result’ followed.
Bangladesh won their first game of the Super 12, beating the Netherlands by nine runs after managing to hold the Dutch to a score of 135. Aside from their win over the Netherlands, the Tigers had been a pretty poor run of games with only two T20 wins in their previous nine games. Both of these wins were against UAE and they failed to beat New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
The best value bet here is South Africa to have the highest opening partnership. Bangladesh have only managed to achieve the highest opening partnership in two of their last ten games (against UAE and Netherlands) whilst South Africa had the highest opening score in six of their last ten games and even though Temba Bavuma is out of form it is still the best value bet.
HIGHEST OPENING PARTNERSHIP - SOUTH AFRICA
India v Netherlands
The World Cup started with the biggest rivalry in cricket, India v Pakistan, and it definitely lived up to expectations and will most likely the best game of the tournament. The match went right down to the last ball and Pakistan would have seen victory if their bowlers weren’t so expensive at the death. A wide, a no ball and a free hit meant that India could get those extra crucial runs to give them the win.
The Dutchmen just fell short of Bangladesh in their opening game of the Super 12, they ended up losing by just nine runs and put up a valiant 135 against a far superior team. The fact that the Netherlands came that close to Bangladesh’s score of 144 means this might not be the walkover that everyone is expecting.
We don’t really expect Netherlands to get many wickets in this one and because of that in the top batsmen market we should be looking at the top 3 India. Virat Kohli was the highest scorer in their last game and his average in T20 is outstanding with 51.97. KL Rahul is the favourite in this market due to him opening the batting and having an average of 31.00 this year, Kohli and Rohit Sharma are then second favourites with their averages being 51.55 and 24.73 in 2022, and we have to side with one of the openers here in what should be a routine win.

Pakistan v Zimbabwe
Pakistan just fell short of their arch-rivals, India, in a highly contested match between two teams at the pinnacle of T20 cricket. The Pakistani bowlers will be hoping for a better showing than in their last outings as they were the reason why India prevailed, they let some school-boy extra’s pass them by with a wide and no-ball leading to a free hit in the last six balls.
Zimbabwe’s match against South Africa was rained off and both teams were awarded a point for their efforts. This falls massively in the Zimbabwean’s favour because it was extremely unlikely they were going to get a result against South Africa considering their oponnents needed to score 13 runs in three overs.
Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam are the two favourites to bet the top batsman in this one and both are currently at the same price. We find this surprising when you bear in mind that Babar Azam is having his worst year to date with a T20 average of 35.94 (lifetime average is 43.08) whilst Rizwan has carried on his phenomenal form from last year. Rizwan has the second highest average in T20 cricket behind none-other than Virat Kohli and his average over the last two year is 61.46.
