England v South Africa Preview – 1st T20

The One Day series ended all square after England’s comprehensive 118-run victory in the second clash tied the series, before an abandoned outing at Headingley meant there was no decider, and now South Africa are aiming to achieve something they’ve never managed to do before and win a T20 series away against England. Check out our preview for the game and if playing online casino is your entertainment of choice then head over to Genting Casino where you will fine over 3000 online slots and premium live casino tables.

Recent Form

South Africa have a decent chance of doing so too, with Jos Buttler’s white-ball reign still looking for it’s first series victory, and kicking things off in Bristol arguably plays to the visitors’ advantage when considering England are 0 from 3 here at the County Ground.

The Proteas have a strong recent T20 record, winning 13 of their last 16 outings, with the exceptions coming away in India (twice) in a series they drew 2-2 and against Australia in the opening match of the World Cup last year.

On the other hand, England have won just three of their last 10 outings, with one coming at home to India this year having already lost the series. All of those three victories came when batting first, so it’ll be interesting to see if they choose to do the same here at a ground where the side batting first has never won a T20 international.

Ultimately, the tourists look the stronger outfit at the moment, especially in this format and while it’s difficult to gauge form of these sides due to the constant squad rotation, the return on David Miller after a stellar competition-winning IPL campaign, and Kagiso Rabada to compliment Anrich Nortje in the pace attack can only serve to benefit their side here.

Both sides bat deep on paper, though there are concerns over the form of some of England’s key players, namely Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy. Since scoring a century at Trent Bridge just over a year ago, Livingstone has averaged just 18.00 in this format, while Roy has an average of just 9.75 over his last four outings.

Despite being on home soil, it’s surprising to see England so short in the market and the prices about the Proteas are much more appealing considering the players they have at their disposal and recent T20 record.
