West Ham v Brighton Preview And Predictions - Premier League Week 14

Consecutive losses to Wolves and Man City have left West Ham trailing the title contenders and David Moyes will want his team to get back to winning ways against Brighton and build some momentum ahead of the festive football season. Brighton themselves are in need of the points after going on a run of nine games without a win in all competitions, seven of those draws, results that will no doubt leave Graham Potter very frustrated. Recent Form

West Ham have suffered back-to-back league defeats for the first time since April, though they still remain in the top four at the moment, albeit on goal difference from Arsenal.

The loss of Angelo Ogbonna seems to have hampered the Hammers defensively, while Aaron Cresswell will likely miss out here also, and they’ve lost the only two matches the full-back hasn’t started since the beginning of last season which certainly doesn’t bode well.

Graham Potter was booed by Brighton’s fans despite picking up a point against a tricky Leeds side, although on balance of play the Seagulls would have hoped for all three points. Tariq Lamptey looked incredibly dangerous in the first half at the weekend, causing a lot of trouble down the right flank, and with the defensively susceptible Arthur Masuaku likely to fill in for Cresswell here, that could be a real area of joy for the visitors.

A 2-1 defeat away to Man City is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, and that keeps up West Ham’s competitive record of not having lost by more than a single goal since January, implying that they’re incredibly tricky to overcome and remain in the game until the final whistle.

While the London side remain odds on favourites to take the spoils, we wouldn’t be too sure, especially considering they’re never beaten the Seagulls in the Premier League.

West Ham And Brighton To Draw

Indeed, each of the last five meetings have ended all square, with the south coast side winning the previous three encounters, and it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see that run of draws extend here.

Only Crystal Palace (7) have drawn more games than Brighton (6) this season, with all six of those stalemates coming in the last eight outings, and this season is no one off either as they have lead the way for most draws in every season under Potter so far, with 14 in each of the last two campaigns.

While the hosts have been impressive, their home form doesn’t set the pulses racing with their last nine home games reading W4-D1-L4, and off the back of two defeats they look far too short to get behind for the win.

The visitors are winless in nine across all competitions no too, so there’ll certainly be an element of tentativeness from both sides here with neither firing on all cylinders, so we’re happy to get behind the points being shared in this one.

PREDICTION:

WEST HAM AND BRIGHTON TO DRAW
