Watford v Manchester United Preview And Predictions - Premier League Week 12

After suffering another loss in the Manchester Derby, a third from their last four league games, the pressure is mounting on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of their trip to Watford on Saturday. Claudio Ranieri's team sit 17th in the table and are looking to avoid a third consecutive loss, however the "Tinker Man" will remind his team that United are short of confidence and their for the taking, a result that will most likely back the bookies odds for Solskjaer to be the next manager to get sacked. Recent Form

Going back to Manchester United’s first outing in the Champions League this season where they lost 2-1 to Young Boy’s, they have a W4-D2-L6 record.

Admittedly they have played some tough sides in these 12 games against the likes of Manchester City (L), Atalanta twice (W-D), Liverpool (L), Spurs (W) and Leicester (L) just to name a few, but these big names seem to keep coming with Arsenal and Chelsea still to play in the coming weeks.

Watford have also really struggled for form this season with only four victories so far in all competitions. Their early exit in the Carabao Cup means that the Hornets’ chances of silverware this season are extremely slim with their only faint hope being the FA Cup.

Juraj Kucka and Christian Kabasele are two key players for Watford and will both miss the game against the Red Devils due to a sending off and a thigh injury, respectively.

Watford have conceded first in nine out of their 11 games this year, 4/5 in their home games as well. With Manchester United scoring first in half of their last 20 games, you could find some value in this market.

Man United To Win And Both Teams To Score

The Hornets have also had troubles in front of goal with them failing to score in seven games already this year, with three of those being here at Vicarage Road. This tells us that Manchester United winning to nil could be another market to look out for.

However, with Luke Shaw’s injury, Alex Telles looks to come into the team and he may have a difficult time keeping Ismaila Sarr’s blistering pace at bay.

The Portuguese duo of Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo failed to get automatic qualification for the World Cup in the latest games they played for their country.

Poor performances from these two against Ireland and Serbia will leave them eager to put on a stellar showing against Watford this Saturday, and you’d be brave to bet against either of them putting on a show here.

In the six games Raphael Varane has played for Manchester United this year they have an average of 2.17 points per game (PPG).

When he doesn’t play, they see a decrease of 63% to 0.80 PPG. Although he has only missed five games this season and played six, this still gives a massive indicator to how important Varane is to the United defence, which at times has been woeful to say the least.

Without Varane here we can’t see United keeping a clean sheet, though they should have too much quality for Watford when it comes down to it, and we’d expect them to take maximum points.

PREDICTION:

MAN UNITED TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
