Tottenham v Liverpool Preview And Predictions - Premier League Week 18

Liverpool will be looking to keep the heat on league leaders Manchester City when they face Tottenham on Sunday. Jurgen Klopp's team have been in top form, reeling off five consecutive league wins, a run of results that sees them just one point adrift of City, while Spurs return to action following a series of postponed fixtures due to Covid, Antonio Conte's men themselves on a decent run of three consecutive wins. Recent Form

Tottenham have had their last three competitive fixtures postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak within the camp, eight first-team players caught the virus which meant they were unable to field a Starting XI with eligible players.

This break may do them well though because new manager Antonio Conte will have been able to really drill into his players his methods and how they are going to play looking forward.

Liverpool have won their last six games on the bounce and have a +15 goal difference amongst those games. The Red’s are on fire form as they go into face Tottenham, sitting only one point behind the reigning champions Manchester City.

Their loss against West Ham a few weeks ago is still their only blemish in their title run this year, though drawing to the likes of Brentford and Brighton has definitely set them back.

Liverpool have dominated this fixture for the past eight years, only losing one game in this time as their record is W14-D4-L1.

One of these games was the fabled Champions League final where Liverpool came out on top to win 2-0, raising the trophy for the first time since they overcame Milan in 2005 in one of the most thrilling Champions League finals ever.

Liverpool To Win And Both Teams To Score

There have been 53 goals scored over the course of these games (36 Liverpool, 17 Spurs) which brings the average match goals to 2.8. Both teams managed to score in 12 out of the 19 games, so there’s good value to be found in this market.

Both teams have big players out due to Covid for this game. Liverpool are missing Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho, while for Tottenham, Heung Min-Son and Lucas Moura are the key potential absentees, though they may have recovered by the time the game will be played.

The Reds will definitely be at a larger disadvantage given the skill and prowess of Virgil van Dijk, who had played every minute of the Premier League before their game against Newcastle.

Since Antonio Conte took over the helm from Nuno Espirito Santo in November Spurs have had much more of an attacking threat. That’s despite Harry Kane still not returning to his peak form of last year, meaning that other players have had to pick up the slack.

Of course in attack, that burden has mainly fallen to Lucas Moura and Heung Min-Son, so the quality of this bet depends on whether these two will be available for team selection.

PREDICTION:

LIVERPOOL TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
