Sheffield Utd have worked their way well and truly into the battle for fourth. As the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd have dropped points in recent games, the Blades have stepped up their form and they’ve won three of five matches now.
In fact, excluding results against the top two in the league, Chris Wilder’s men have won six of eight unbeaten matches since early December.
Each of those victories may have come over bottom-half outfits, with five against the current bottom six, but that’s precisely where Brighton sit and Graham Potter’s side have the form to show for it.
Over the same time span, the Seagulls have won just once in 11 outings over a dismal Bournemouth side, not to mention an additional defeat in the FA Cup to Sheffield Wednesday.

Although Brighton are still picking up draws at the Amex, they’ve now lost seven of their past 10 on their travels and so it’s easy to see why their hosts are odds-on favourites.
The Blades even won the reverse fixture 1-0, while against teams 14th or below in the table, they’ve won seven of 11 unbeaten matches this term including six of the last seven.
At Bramall Lane, it’s four from five for the season against such teams, though they were level at the break in each.

Although playing to a similar standard as they did under former boss Chris Hughton and occupying a comparable league position, Brighton are better going forwards than they were last term on the road.
They’ve only drawn a blank once in their past nine on their travels, even registering at the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs. They lost three of these 2-1 and a further two 3-1, and we’d expect a similar outcome here.
However, the Blades lack a top striker and as a result, all nine of their goals in 2020 across all competitions have been scored by different players (one was an own goal).
They haven’t scored more than twice in 15 matches since the start of December, while they’ve only manged to net three or more just twice in 22 home matches since March.
Given five of the Blades’ last six wins came by just the single goal margin, the 2-1 correct score holds some appeal.
