A cloud still hangs over Alfredo Morelos’ future, but Steven Gerrard will have been pleased to see his star forward get back amongst the goals with a brace in the 3-0 win over St. Mirren.

Add into the mix recent signings Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe, with the former bagging 19 goals and six assists in last season’s Swiss Super League for St. Gallen, and the attack is looking in decent shape for now.

Rangers To Win To Nil

The Gers are also looking largely steady at the back with clean sheets in their opening two games, while they only conceded the once away at Bayer Leverkusen in their second-leg Europa League tie.

Further, win to nil results over Lyon, Nice, Motherwell and Coventry in July friendlies will leave the hosts in confident mood heading into this one.

Rangers have now emerged victorious in 16 of their last 19 league games at Ibrox since April 2019, registering 13 clean sheets and conceding just twice across the last nine of these.

The only side to put two goals past them in a single game over this entire spell were Celtic, so St. Johnstone definitely have their work cut out for them.

Making matters worse for the visitors, they’ve netted just two goals in four games since March in all competitions, with each of these low-scoring affairs.

Although they’ve found the target in their only fixture so far during the current campaign, that was in a 1-1 stalemate with promoted outfit Dundee United.

In fairness they did have to play the second half with 10 men, with Michael O’Halloran sent off just prior to the break, but we can’t see their frontline causing Rangers too many problems on Wednesday.

Rangers To Win 2-0

St. Johnstone are a dismal W3-D9-L11 on the road since January 2019. Although all three victories have come since December, they only managed to score twice in two of the 23 games in total and haven’t done so in the past nine.

Of the 11 defeats, nine saw them fail to score including the most recent seven of these, while five of them finished 2-0.

Given they’ve kept things tight in recent games, but have conceded at least twice in each of their past four with the Old Firm duo, that correct score looks worth a small flutter.
