Rangers’ title chance went out the window with their Old Firm derby stalemate last weekend, but they’ll be on a real high after a sensational performance in the Europa League on Thursday to take them to the final. A first leg defeat to Leipzig was overturned as the Gers went flying out of the blocks en route to a 3-1 victory, with the noise at Ibrox deafening long after the final whistle.
Ibrox remains a fortress for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men, with Rangers an impressive W13-D2-L1 there since the Dutchman took the reins. The sole defeat was inflicted by Celtic, while one of the stalemates was against Dortmund, as this spell has also seen them down the likes of Crvena Zvezda, Sporting Braga and now Leipzig in Europe.
In the league alone, Rangers are W31-D4-L1 at Ibrox going back to the start of last season, registering clean sheets in 25 of those victories, while 21 came by a minimum two-goal margin.
However, they were certainly more prolific last term, bagging at least three goals in 11 of 19 fixtures, and a minimum of four goals in seven of these, whereas they’ve scored three or more in just four of 17 so far in the current campaign. As a result 10 of their 12 home league wins this term have seen a maximum of three goals.
Rangers To Win And Under 3.5 Goals
A fairly modest scoreline should perhaps be expected then, especially given Dundee Utd have only conceded more than twice in two of their past 18 appearances in all competitions – against Celtic in the Scottish Cup and Hearts in the league.
They’ve only lost three of their past 14 matches (W4-D7-L3), even taking a point off of Rangers when they visited Tannadice Park in February.
The visitors are however the lowest scorers amongst the top half of the table with just 34 goals in 35 matches, and they’ve scored just once across their past five clashes with the Old Firm duo across all competitions.
They’re W1-D3-L9 against the Glaswegian giants since the start of last season, while away from home, they’ve lost five of six winless games over this period, with Rangers inflicting 4-0 and 4-1 defeats on them at Ibrox last term, and a 1-0 defeat this season.
