Manchester United v Arsenal Preview - Premier League Week 6

Arsenal will be eyeing up a sixth consecutive league win when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Gunners have kicked-off their campaign in blistering form, however United will provide a sterner test for Arteta's team. The hosts will come into the clash full of confidence after reeling off three consecutive wins, and one expects some of their new transfers will be on display at the Theater of Dreams. Recent Form

After a tumultuous opening couple of games for Man United, they seemed to have turned a corner with the catalyst coming as they overturned Liverpool 2-1 at home. Narrow wins over Southampton and Leicester don’t exactly set the pulses racing, though a victory over pace setters Arsenal really would make the league sit up and take note.

Gabriel Jesus is the missing piece that Arsenal needed for a few years with the Brazilian taking no time to settle into North London. Five wins from five is the Gunners’ best start to a season in over 15 years, though this will be their biggest test yet after victories over Palace, Leicester, Bournemouth, Fulham and Villa.

Goals have been at the core of the visitors’ success so far, scoring at least twice in each of their victories so far, though only against Palace and Bournemouth have they managed to keep a clean sheet.

Man United And Arsenal To Draw

While Old Trafford isn’t exactly the fortress it was in the Sir Alex Ferguson years, they still have a strong record here against Arsenal. Going back to the beginning of the 2007/08 season they’ve lost just once at home to the Gunners, holding a solid W9-D5-L1 record, though in recent years that record has levelled out at just W2-D3-L1 in the last six seasons.

The Gunners lost seven of their 10 outings against fellow top-six finishers last season, and while they look a more complete side this time round, that record is yet to be tested this campaign. They conceded at least twice in all five such away matches, and we’d be surprised if the Red Devils drew a blank here.

Martin Odegaard is a major doubt here in a huge blow for the visitors, while United have no major new injuries worthy of note. Victor Lindeloff comes back into the squad though it seems as though it’s too soon for Anthony Martial. Jadon Sancho is beginning to show some real promise, while new signing Anthony could provide some serious attacking threat on the right should he be called upon.

With nothing much to split the teams, the draw looks like a value bet. At this stage of the season, the stalemate certainly wouldn’t be a bad result for either side to take and move on. Neither side has had a draw so far this season so there’s an argument that one is due, and with three of the last six meetings ending all square we’re happy to get behind that outcome.

UNITED AND ARESNAL TO DRAW
