Manchester City v Liverpool Preview - Premier League Week 32

Manchester City and Liverpool bring the curtain down on the weekend's Premier League action when they clash at the Etihad on Sunday in what could very well be a title decider. The defending champions sit one point clear of Liverpool and victory for Jurgen Klopp's men will put them in pole position with just six games to go. Recent Form

Manchester City managed to get the better of Atletico Madrid in their first leg matchup of the quarter-finals, a goal from Kevin de Bruyne in the 70th minute was enough to give them the advantage before they go to the Wanda Metropolitano next week.

The Citizens completely dominated the team from Madrid and we already knew it was going to be a tight game because of the defensive nature of Atleti. The tie is still in the balance, though they’re unable to focus on that with a huge title clash this weekend with Liverpool.

The Reds put on a good showing at the Estadio de Luz beating Benfica by a 3-1 scoreline and looked in control of the game right up until the final whistle.

Liverpool have a large amount of talent in many different areas of the pitch and with the way they are playing at the moment, Liverpool could very well go the distance in the UCL, but again all attention will be on domestic affairs this weekend in what is a pivotal encounter.

Man City To Win And Over 2.5 Goals

This match has been very tightly contested over the past couple of years, with Jamie Carragher recently citing that this is the greatest Premier League rivalry of all time.

Since the start of the 2016/17 season, these sides have played each other on 11 occasions in the PL and Manchester City only just come out on top with a record that stands W4-D4-L3. Over the span of these 11 games, they are yet to lose at home to Liverpool (W3-D2).

However, the Reds did get the best of the Citizens in the Champions League back in the 17/18 season beating them 5-1 on aggregate and 2-1 at the Etihad.

Overs may be a profitable market in this matchup, with seven of the last 11 games between the two finishing with +2.5 goals and six with +3.5 goals.

Although it must be said that six out of the last eight PL games that Liverpool have played have finished with -2.5 goals and the same can be said from the last nine City games.

Earlier in the season, this game finished 2-2 thanks to four second-half goals and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a similarly high scoring affair.

Man City have the edge in the title race at the moment, so this is more of a must not lose for the hosts instead of a must win, though an early goal will certainly open the game up and with the attacking talent on display for both, it would a shock not to see goals on Sunday.
