Leicester v Aston Villa Preview And Betting Tips

Second in the Premier League (with a game in hand) and fresh off a stunning 7-2 victory over the defending champions Liverpool last time out, it is fair to say Aston Villa are performing well above expectations coming into their week five Premier League clash with Leicester City on Sunday night. Leicester themselves have had a decent start to their campaign with three wins and a 3-0 loss to West Ham, a result Brendan Rodgers will want his team to put out of their minds ahead of their clash with Villa. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting preview and tips for the game.

The international break came at just the wrong time for Aston Villa after they dismantled the Liverpool backline in a 7-2 rout at Villa Park.

That being said, we’d expect that confidence to flow through this weekend against a Leicester side that have also started the season brightly, though will have some issues to iron out having gone down 3-0 at home to West Ham last time out.

The biggest concern for Brendan Rodgers from that last outing was the fact the Hammers didn’t allow them to have a single shot on target across the 90 minutes, and with how Villa are defending at the moment, keeping two clean sheets in three matches and only conceding to Liverpool so far, that problem could carry on through to this game.

It’s not all doom and gloom in the Foxes camp though, and one result doesn’t unravel what has been an extremely bright start to the campaign. Only Everton and Spurs have scored as many goals as the Foxes this year (12), and a 5-2 win away at Man City should not be understated.

Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes carry an undoubted goal threat to any side in the league and it would be a real shock if they weren’t able to cause Villa a problem or two at the King Power, though the visitors have some attacking firepower of their own.

Aston Villa Draw No Bet

Ollie Watkins scored his first, second and third goals of his Premier League career against reigning champions Liverpool, though in truth he’s looked a handful since his debut, and he should arguably have more goals than that.

He also scored in his opening two League Cup games of the season, while Jack Grealish also has four in four for his club this year.

With so much attacking threat on the pitch, teams can often cancel each other out, though we feel this could be another goal fest and the outright market is far too heavily weighted toward the hosts.

Although very early days this season, Dean Smith’s men have shown they can be competitive this year and to have Leicester as short as they are seems slightly lopsided considering Villa have the most ‘goals for’ per game, and the lease ‘goals against’ per game in the league, so to get them onside with a ‘draw no bet’ looks to hold considerable value here.

Ollie Watkins To Score Anytime

By the same consideration, Villa players look far too long on the goalscorer markets too. Ross Barkley added a lot going forward last time out, with both his and Grealish’s directness causing a lot of discomfort for Liverpool’s backline and providing Ollie Watkins with plenty of opportunities.

While Barkley and Grealish look good value to score on their own, Watkins is certainly long enough to get behind with that kind of service.
