Hearts v Rangers Preview And Predictions - Scottish Premiership - Phase 2, Match 5

Rangers also have a midweek Europa League final to prepare for, so it remains to be seen whether Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have one eye on potential injuries or uses this clash to test out something resembling his strongest team.

However, with Kemar Roofe still on the treatment table along with Alfredo Morelos and Ianis Hagi, attacking options are a little thin and so the likes of Fashion Sakala and Amad Diallo should be handed opportunities. 18-year-old Alex Lowry did his chances of inclusion again no harm with his performance last time out, with Rangers comfortable 4-1 winners over Ross County at Ibrox.

Hearts have their own injury concerns, most notably with first-choice centre-backs Craig Halkett and John Souttar missing in recent weeks. They shouldn’t be risked here ahead of the final, with Robbie Neilson suggesting that neither will make it off the bench.

Toby Sibbick was also stretchered off against Motherwell last time out, further depleting options at centre-back, though he is expected to recover in time for next week’s cup final.

Rangers To Win

Those defensive absentees have been felt with Hearts heading into this fixture off the back of two defeats, first going down 4-1 to Celtic and then 2-1 to Motherwell.

However, both of those fixtures came on the road, whereas at Tynecastle alone, they’ve won four of their past five unbeaten outings.

Hearts may have picked up a point in the first meeting this season, though they were well beaten in the two subsequent clashes with Rangers, losing 2-0 at Tynecastle in December and then 5-0 at Ibrox in February.

They’re W1-D1-L6 against the Old Firm duo altogether this season, and those missing men at the back would suggest that the visitors should take maximum points here.

PREDICTION:

RANGERS TO WIN
