Liverpool Shouldn't Be Worried
Speaking exclusively to Genting, he said: “No, they [Liverpool] shouldn’t be worried.
“Obviously you never like to lose and you want momentum with good performances. But ultimately pre-season is all about fitness, so while it [the Manchester United result] is a heavy defeat by their standards, I wouldn’t be concerned at all.
“Liverpool will be a lot fitter come the start of the season, so I wouldn’t be worried at all.”
Salah Boost
One player who has already hit the goal trail in pre-season is Mohamed Salah, who struck against Palace in Singapore.
The Reds were boosted by the Egyptian icon’s decision to sign a new contract at Anfield this summer – and Johnson was full of praise for Liverpool’s No11.
“Salah is one of the greatest Premier League players of all time,” he explained.

“When he’s on form, he’s hard to stop so you have to put him up there as one of the all time best.”
Mane Impossible To Replace
Salah will be joined up front by new £65million arrival Darwin Nunez this season, who will replace Sadio Mane after his move to Bayern Munich.
But Johnson has warned that it will be challenging to fill the departed Senegalese star’s boots.
“Mane will be impossible to replace,” he stated.
“I don’t think they got Nunez to replace Mane, but they’re going to have to find a way to get him playing.
“I think they would like to have signed him and kept Mane so I don’t think he’s a replacement but he’s certainly a good player.
“Like [Luis] Diaz, if he can get going as a world class player and look like he’s been there for years, then there is no doubt he will be a success.
“Liverpool know what they are doing with these players.”
Nunez Needs Tme
The former England international also cautioned against expecting too much too soon from Nunez, simply because fellow forward Luis Diaz made an immediate impact at Anfield.
“Most likely yes [he will need more time than Diaz], as not many people can do what Diaz did and hit the ground running like he did,” he continued.
“That’s nothing against Nunez, it's a credit to Diaz with how quick he’s started. Nunez will need time to adapt to Liverpool and to the Premier League.”
