Charlton v Norwich

After losing eight out of their first 13 matches in League One, Charlton have gone on to win six out of the last 11 which has seen them push higher in the table to 13th. Norwich are still struggling in the Premier League, they are at the bottom and also score the least and concede the most number of goals, and if they keep it up they’ll certainly be playing Championship football next season.

Despite Norwich poor performances in the Premier League, there are 36 league places separating the two teams so anything apart from a win would be disappointing for the Canaries. Teemu Pukki is going to be the difference-maker here, last season in the Championship he was the third top scorer with 26 goals from 41 games, which brings his minutes/goal to 132 minutes per goal.

PREDICTION:

PUKKI TO SCORE ANYTIME

Forest v Arsenal

Arsenal’s latest scheduled game was called off because Liverpool had an escalating amount of Covid cases within the camp, after an up and down performance against Manchester City the Gunners will be disappointed to not have played against a weakened Liverpool team without Mane, Salah and Keita.

Nottingham Forest have played ten games against opponents higher than them in the Championship so far this season, they have only managed five points from these games and have conceded three times as many goals as they have scored (15 to 5) whereas Arsenal have won all of there games against bottom-five opponents this year and have only conceded one goal. Eddie Nketiah has scored five goals in his last three cup games and will be sure to get a start here considering the disparity in quality of the two teams.

PREDICTION:

NKETIAH TO SCORE ANYTIME

Aston Villa v Man United

Manchester Utd have been on a sporadic run of form as of late, with three wins in Ralf Rangnicks first three games in the Premier League but a 1-1 draw with Newcastle and a loss in their latest game against Wolves have been two very disappointing results. Aston Villa got their first unexpected loss since Steven Gerrard took over (2-1 against Brentford), the Villains have lost four games but have played the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

We feel like Rangnick hasn’t quite found his footing at Man Utd, and he may never, his patented narrow formation doesn’t translate well to the Reds because of their talent in wide attacking positions. Aston Villa have shown some strength against the sides better than them, although they haven’t got a result yet we expect them to against a weakened Manchester Utd.

PREDICTION:

ASTON VILLA TO WIN

West Ham v Leeds

Leeds have only won two games out of their last nine and went through a period of three games where they conceded 14 goals (7-0 City, 4-1 Arsenal, 3-2 Chelsea), although these teams are far above their pay grade, it’s still a shocking amount of goals to concede over the space of three games. West Ham have won their last two games after losing two in a row before that however, there are still some warning signs with the Hammers going 3-0 up in the first half and then conceding two late on in the second meant that Crystal Palace were able to get back into the game.

Leeds have only managed six points from nine away games this year in the Premier League, they are still suffering from a plethora of injuries, at the time of writing they have nine injuries to first-team players. West Ham youngsters have had some experience this year, they played weakened teams in the last few games in the Europa League when they had guaranteed qualification, and that should serve them well here as David Moyes looks to add members to his squad this month.

PREDICTION:

WEST HAM TO WIN

Wolves v Sheffield Utd

Wolves achieved a historic victory over Manchester United on Monday, February 1980 was the last time the Wolves managed to win at Old Trafford. Wolves have only conceded 14 goals this year, one more than Manchester City which puts them second in the goals against table. There are 23 league positions separating the two teams and The Blades have not been very successful against teams above them in the league, they have eight points in 11 games against teams above them in the Championship.

Since Bruno Lage came in over the summer, Wolves have been incredible defensively and even some of the best teams in the league have had trouble breaking them down, all of Wolves games against teams above them have finished 1-0 or 0-0, which shows their defensive strengths but also some weaknesses in attack. We still think that Wolves will win this one due to the gulf in class between the two.

PREDICTION:

WOLVES TO WIN
