Crystal Palace v Tottenham Preview And Predictions - Premier League Week Four

Crystal Palace and Tottenham kick-off week four of the Premier League when they clash in the early Saturday game at Selhurst Park. With three wins from three, Spurs sit top of the Premier League table and will be looking to keep their winning start intact against Patrick Viera's team that have struggled in the opening exchanges of their campaign. It has been slightly contrasting starts in the dugout for both new managers Nuno Espirito Santo and Patrick Vieira.

The former has hit the ground running with Spurs winning all three of his matches, including against defending champions Man City in the opening weekend and versus his old club Wolves in Gameweek Two.

The Palace manager is yet to get a win under his belt after losing to Chelsea before drawing with both Brentford and West Ham, while those two stalemates sandwiched a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Watford in the League Cup.

Goals have been hard for the Eagles to come by this season, as midfielder Conor Gallagher has scored their only goals this term against what can only be described as a leaky Hammers defence.

Spurs To Win 1-0

The Lilywhites, on the other hand, have been watertight at the back and it is that record that sees them sit at the head of the table two points clear of the rest.

Three 1-0 victories show the way Nuno intends to try and wear down his opponents while at the same time be incredibly difficult to break down.

That style saw the likes of Raheem Sterling, Ferran Torres, Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish fail to break them down and we somewhat doubt this misfiring Palace attacking unit will offer much in the shape of creativity.

The visitors will need a slight reshuffle at the back due to the absence of new signing Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez, meaning Joe Rodon might earn a starting birth following his return to fitness over the international break.

Spurs To Win To Nil

We’re certainly not expecting this to be a walkover for the current Premier League leaders. The addition of Joachim Andersen looks to be an exceptional one and can only make this defence more solid, as when excluding Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool since the start of the 2019/20 campaign, they’ve conceded one goal or fewer in 24 of their 33 fixtures at Selhurst Park.

Moreover, that has been the case in all five meetings here between the two sides since the start of 2016/17, as Spurs netted exactly once in each of those and won to nil in three.

The visitors have been given a boost by the commitment of Harry Kane to the side after he was heavily linked with a move to the Citizens. With that now out of the way, it can only give them more confidence to go on and continue this impressive start to the season.
