Chelsea v Man City - William Gallas

Two Premier League title contenders kick-off week six of the Premier League when Chelsea and Man City clash at Stamford Bridge in one of two early Saturday games. After winning the Champions League last season, Chelsea have got off to a flying start this campaign and seem to be flourishing under Thomas Tuchel, not to mention the goal scoring exploits of new signing Romelu Lukaku. In an exclusive interview with Genting Casino Former Chelsea star William Gallas claims records are there to be broken for Chelsea and that they can be crowned Premier League Champions this season.

Records For The Taking

“If they are really focused, they can beat any records” – that is ex-Chelsea defender William Gallas’ assessment of Thomas Tuchel’s brilliant Blues.

The Frenchman, speaking exclusively to Genting, was full of praise for his former side, ahead of their mouthwatering clash with Manchester City on Saturday.

Gallas won back-to-back Premier League titles with the West Londoners in 2004-05 and 2005-06, and he sees no reason why Chelsea’s current crop won’t claim domestic glory in 2021-22.

“I really can’t see any club that can beat them,” he said. “Tuchel is a perfectionist and he always has a tactical plan.

“Whenever he plays against the league’s best managers, he always finds the solution.

“Chelsea can win the Premier League, definitely.”

Chelsea Untouchable

The 84-cap French international doesn’t see any other team in the Premier League that can match Chelsea’s strength – and that includes Saturday’s opponents Manchester City, or big spenders Manchester United.

“They look stronger and stronger and if they are really focused, they can beat any records, especially now they have Romelu Lukaku,” he explained.

“This is a scary team for any opponent to play, Manchester United fans may think they have a stronger team with Cristiano Ronaldo back, but if you take every player, position by position, then I believe Chelsea is stronger than United.

Title Message Loud And Clear

The Blues have enjoyed an unbeaten start across all competitions and made a statement last Sunday, as they blew cross-capital rivals – and another of Gallas’ former clubs – Tottenham Hotspur away in the second half.

It is a result that he believes will make other sides sit up and take notice.

“When I looked at the players that Chelsea had on the pitch compared to Tottenham, I knew Chelsea would win,” Gallas said.

“Even at 0-0 I knew they would score because they looked so strong, sometimes in football you have to be patient.

“Winning 3-0 sends a message to Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.

“After this result, those clubs know they have to be careful about Chelsea, they know Chelsea will do everything to win the Premier League.”

Chelsea To Beat City?

Two of the Premier League favourites meet when Tuchel and Pep Guardiola face off, in what could already be a crucial meeting for the title race.

But with so much of the season still to come, Gallas doesn’t believe that Manchester City will be out of the running if they lose on Saturday.

He said: “We know the Premier League season is very long – you’ve got the Champions League games, you’ve got the FA Cup and you’ve got the international break.

“Sometimes you can have some players get injured and I’d be worried for Chelsea if Lukaku gets injured, I’m not sure Chelsea will look like the same team.”

The two sides last met in May’s Champions League final, with the Blues coming out on top thanks to Kai Havertz’s solitary goal, and it is perhaps no surprise who the man with 225 Chelsea appearances to his name is backing this time around.

“I think after the match against Tottenham, Chelsea sent a good message to City,” Gallas stated.

“Tuchel has already beaten Guardiola twice, so that can be an advantage for Chelsea, but everyone loves the Premier League because you never know what is going to happen.

“What we do know is that this is the game to watch this weekend.

“Both teams will play attractive football, City play their way wherever they go, it will be very

interesting to see which one is going to win but I will put one penny on Chelsea.”
