Chelsea v Liverpool Preview And Predictions - FA Cup Final

Wembley takes center stage on Saturday when Chelsea and Liverpool clash in the FA Cup Final. Jurgen Klopp's men will be looking to add a second piece of silverware to their collection this campaign after their League Cup win over the same opponents earlier in the season, while Chelsea, losing finalist over the last two seasons will be hoping they can break that run and finish the season with some domestic success. Recent Form

Chelsea were triumphant over relegation battlers Leeds on Wednesday, the Blues were 1-0 up inside five minutes and the game was all but over after Daniel James got sent off in the 24th minute for an ankle breaker on Mateo Kovacic.

This red card meant that Leeds were down to ten men for the second game in a row and Chelsea capatilized on there lack of personnel scoring two more goals which meant the game finished 3-0.

Liverpool only just managed to overcome Aston Villa in their latest fixture; after going 1-0 down in the 3rd minute thanks to a Douglas Luiz goal, Liverpool bounced back to score just three minutes later but couldn’t really find their footing in a cagey first half.

The AFCON winner Sadio Mane found the winning goal in the 65th minute to take Liverpool over the line, if Liverpool play the way they did in their remaining games of the season the title race is all but over.

Liverpool To Lift The Trophy

Chelsea have a knack of reaching the FA Cup Final, they have reached the last round of the competition five of the previous six years. However, they have only won one of the possible four Finals, two 2-1 losses to Arsenal in the 19/20 and 16/17 seasons and a loss last year to Leicester 1-0.

Their one win came in the 17/18 season when they beat Manchester United 1-0. Chelsea’s record in all major cup finals since the start of the 2015/16 season is W3-L5 (UCL, UEL, FA Cup and Carabao Cup).

Since Jurgen Klopp took over, Liverpool have had a large amount of success with the Red’s winning the Premier League, Champions League and the Carabao Cup this year but their success in the domestic cups (FA Cup and Carabao Cup) has been questionable.

Liverpool To Win 2-1

Before this year the furthest place Klopp had got in the FA Cup was Round 5 and his team has been knocked out of the fourth round in four occasions. The last FA Cup Final the Red’s were in was back in 2011/12 when they lost to Chelsea 2-1 and their last win was back in 2005/06 when they overcame West Ham on penalties.

There have been five matches over the past decade where either team has played in the final and the most common scoreline through 90 minutes was 2-1 which happened on three occasions.

We believe that it will be a low scoring game because of how teams tend to set out when their is silverware on the line, as proved by the 0-0 earlier in the year when both of these teams were in the Carabao cup final.
