Recent Form
A last gasp equaliser saw Chelsea miss out on top spot in their Champions League group to Juventus, though they can worry about the round of 16 another time as attention is brought back to domestic endeavours.
The Blues are looking to bounce back from a shock 3-2 defeat away to West Ham last weekend and avoid going three games without a victory in all competitions for the first time under Thomas Tuchel.
The return of Patrick Bamford saw Leeds rescue a point from the clutches of defeat when hosting Brentford last weekend, and the striker’s return will surely bring with it a change of fortunes for the whites.
Leeds currently sit in the bottom-six, though they’ve seen slight improvements lately and are proving to be tougher and tougher to beat. Indeed, having lost half of their opening eight games, they’ve lost just one of the subsequent seven outings.
This fixture last season saw Chelsea run out 3-1 winners under Frank Lampard to go top of the table, and depending on the result in the early kick-off on Saturday the Blues could do just that again with a win here.
Leeds haven’t won at Stamford Bridge this century, albeit from only five outings, with Chelsea taking each of the last four such meetings.
The Blues have been far better away from home this year with no side taking more points on the road than the London club, despite their defeat at West Ham last weekend.
They’ve now drawn their last three domestic outings 1-1, although they did impressively run riot over Juventus in the interim, so this is far from a foregone conclusion.
Leeds don’t have the best record in the capital though as they’ve lost nine of their last 10 trips to London in the top-flight and it’s hard to see them picking up maximum points here, especially in the absence of Kalvin Phillips who picked up a hamstring injury in the draw with Brentford last weekend.
Indeed, Leeds have a poor W3-D1-L9 record when Phillips hasn’t started in the Premier League (0.77ppg), and that increases 112% to 1.63 points per game when he does, and that will be a massive hinderance to the visitors’ chances here.
Kai Havertz To Score Anytime
Kai Havertz has scored in three of his last four home games for Chelsea across all competitions and now returned from injury he could be in line for a starting spot.
Timo Werner bagged a brace in midweek and that will do his chances of starting here no harm either, though it’s the former that takes our fancy at the prices should he start from the off.
PREDICTION:
KAI HAVERTZ TO SCORE ANYTIME
