Chelsea v Tottenham Preview And Betting Tips – Premier League

Chelsea welcome Tottenham in the early Premier League kick-off on Saturday, and with the hosts just a point ahead of Jose Mourinho's team in fourth, securing the three points will be top of the agenda for the Blues. Spurs come into the game low on confidence after their 1-0 loss to Leipzig in the Champions League and low on striking resources following the loss of Son Heung-min. Kevin Campbell and Nigel Winterburn give their verdict ahead of the game which you can watch below, while tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting preview and tips.

Frank Lampard’s men suffered their fifth home defeat of the season, meaning they’ve now lost as many league games at Stamford Bridge since September as they did between February 2004 and November 2010.

They’ve failed to beat a current top-half team at home all season and former boss Jose Mourinho’s Spurs side are breathing heavily down their necks.

The visitors are looking for their fourth win on the bounce in the league for the first time since February last year, while the Blues are looking for their first win in five.

Chelsea won the reverse fixture 2-0 in North London, with a Willian brace enough to seal the three points before Christmas, though the club’s fortunes have headed in vastly different directions since then.

After 22 games this season, the West London side were nine points clear of their rivals, though now only four games later Spurs have the chance to leapfrog them into fourth, as they did on the last occasion they met.

Recent head-to-heads have gone in the Blues’ favour, winning each of the last three across all competitions, though they’ve failed to win four on the bounce against Spurs since January 2002.

Although Spurs have notoriously struggled here over the years (winning just once since 1990), this isn’t looking like the fortress it once was.

The Blues will feel aggrieved about the result on Monday night, with VAR ignoring Harry Maguire’s kick out at Michy Batshuayi, before intervening to rule out their two goals.

However, it’s their injury crisis which will have fans more concerned heading into this weekend’s game and their Champions League tie with Bayern Munich next week, with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham all either out or doubtful for this clash.

Under 2.5 Goals

The visitors aren’t without their own injury problems though, with Harry Kane and Son Heung Min out for the visitors, so it’s difficult to see where the goals are going to come from in this tie.

Son has scored in each of his last five games across all competitions, scoring the winner in three. Chelsea have seen ‘Unders’ in seven of their last 10 league games at this ground, and with what is effectively a second-string attack for both sides, we’re happy to bank on a low scorer here.

Spurs +0.75 Asian Handicap

On that basis, we can’t get behind the hosts here, especially not as odds-on favourites. Spurs, however, are yet to beat a ‘Big Six’ side or Leicester on the road (D2-L3) and despite a slight upturn in results, they’ve not been putting in the performances to match.

Having been poor midweek in defeat to RB Leipzig, we couldn’t get fully behind them on the outright either.

However, only one of Spurs’ 13 away games this year has been settled by more than a single strike, and with all of Chelsea’s injury problems, the visitors look long enough to get behind on the Asian handicap this time round.

Under 2.5 Goals At 21/20

Spurs +0.75 Asian Handicap At 47/50
