Celtic v Rangers Preview And Betting Tips

The first Old Firm Derby of the season is some way for the Scottish Premiership to get back down to business, when Celtic welcome Rangers in the early Saturday kick-off! Rangers sit just one point clear of their bitter rivals at the top of the table, although Celtic still have that game in hand. Steven Gerrard will know that if his team is going to wrestle the title away from Celtic, these are the games they need to secure the points in. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting preview and tips for the game.

The much anticipated first Old Firm derby of the season takes place this weekend, with Rangers taking a slender Premiership lead into the match, though Celtic in fairness have a game in hand. It’s now seven wins on the bounce for the Hoops, with five of those coming to nil as they make a charge for their 10th successive title.

Steven Gerrard’s men are the only visiting side to come away from Celtic Park with any points in the last 21 matches played here, and they may fancy their chances of getting something again here this weekend.

Key players Ryan Christie, Odsonne Edouard and Nir Bitton will all be absent here having tested positive for coronavirus which will limit much of the hosts’ attacking potency.

Albian Ajeti should recover in time for this clash and could offer a different dimension to their attack, though without those other two we can’t see them extending their run of scoring three or more in eight consecutive home matches now.

Under 2.5 Goals

While they may not pose as much of an attacking threat, Neil Lennon’s men still look exceptionally long. Ajeti has scored in five of his six matches this season since his arrival from West Ham and is more than capable of getting another here.

Last season’s matchwinner for Rangers Nicola Katic will be absent for this one, though he’s yet to feature at all this season and the Gers have coped just fine without him.

Joe Aribo will also be out for the visitors though apart from Kemar Roofe, Gerrard has no new injury concerns to attend with.

With very little separating the sides there are cases to be made for both, and we’ll rightly avoid the outright here and instead the goal market looks the better place to find value.

Albian Ajeti To Score Anytime

While these two have made a habit of putting teams to the sword, up against each other it’s a completely different story.

There’s been an average of just two goals per game since the beginning of the 2018/19 season, and without Celtic’s key attacking threats on the field, the chances of a high scoring affair are lowered.

While we can easily pick out goalscorers from each side, unless someone takes this game by the scruff of the neck this could be a very cagey and tight affair, and the ‘Unders’ looks the more likely outcome all things considered.

We’d also not want to discourage getting behind Ajeti, however and at a long enough price he looks like he could be the key man for the Hoops in this clash and we’re willing to get behind him to score his sixth of the season.

Under 2.5 Goals At 5/6

Albian Ajeti To Score Anytime At 8/5
