Burnley have joined a cluster of five teams sitting on 30 points – five above the bottom six and seven above the drop zone – and will be in better spirits following victories over Leicester and Man Utd in their past two league outings.
A defeat hosting Norwich in the FA Cup last weekend has however raised another question mark, especially as they’ve had three separate spells since the October international break where they’ve strung three consecutive defeats together.
Burnley haven’t actually drawn a game in 19 matches across all competitions since the start of October, unlike Arsenal, who have drawn 12 of 21 since late October (nine of 15 in the league).
A major problem for the Gunners has been late concessions, as they’ve shipped the last goal of the game in three of their past four outings.
Although it didn’t cost them last time out in the FA Cup as Bournemouth netted a consolation, it’s denied them six points in three league games now, and only the deficiencies of Man Utd and Spurs this season is keeping any chance of qualifying for Europe next term alive.
Arsenal have been accused of being a bit lightweight over the past decade, with Watford’s Troy Deeney infamously heckling them on TV for their lack of ‘cojones’, but although Sean Dyche’s football template doesn’t differ too much from that of Tony Pulis or Sam Allardyce, the Clarets have still lost all 10 encounters with the Gunners since 2014/15.

They have however netted in all three meetings since the start of last season, with Arsenal winning 3-1 (twice) and 2-1, so whether or not the Gunners can score enough earlier in the game to take the spoils, we fancy the hosts to grab a goal.
Despite hit and miss results at Turf Moor since the start of September (Burnley have won six and lost six across all tournaments), they have at least consistently found the net as only Man Utd and Palace were able to shut them out.
The likes of Chelsea, Man City and Leicester all failed to register clean sheets, while Arsenal’s backline doesn’t inspire confidence in that regard.
The visitors have kept their opponents’ attack at bay in just three of 23 matches across all competitions since the October international break.
Both teams scored in 17 of these, including seven of the past eight on their travels, while the same has occurred in each of Burnley’s last four at home.
Add the fact, the Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang makes his return to the North London outfit for this one, both sides getting on the scoreboard looks a pretty solid proposition.
