Brentford are sitting just outside of the top half of the table at the midpoint in the season, a very respectable position to be in for a team that hadn’t played first division football for 74 years, especially considering they’ve played two games fewer than many other sides in the league.
The Bees have shown a lot of strength against teams in the top half of the table, they have more points from those teams than in the bottom half. They will be ruing their losses to Burnley and Norwich City, they could have been in contention for European football if they picked up those six easy points.
Manchester City are easily favourites to win the title with the way they are playing. They have won their last nine games in a row and have scored 30 goals whilst only conceding six. Granted seven of these goals came against Leeds but nonetheless letting only six goals in over the space of nine games is as impressive as it comes.
Before the Boxing Day clash against Leicester, the Citizens had the same number of points in home games and away games (22), which bodes very well for them because it is normally the tough away games that decide the title race.
Man City To Win And Over 2.5 Goals
City concede an average of 0.67 goals per away match this year and they have only given up 12 goals throughout the whole of the season. Their away games bring an average of 2.78 match goals and four out of their nine away fixtures both teams have managed to score.
Brentford started their home campaign off in style after being Arsenal 2-0 in the first match of the season, but it has been all downhill since then with only two wins in the last seven on home soil since that game, both coming against out of form Watford and Everton sides.
The London side have scored and conceded ten goals when playing at home, with six of those 20 coming against Liverpool alone. In fact, up against the other top four sides, Brentford have a balanced W1-D1-L1 at home, and can consider themselves extremely unlucky not to have got anything from their game against Chelsea, so this isn’t a foregone conclusion.
However, as mentioned before, Manchester City are the best team in the league in all facets so it's very hard to see anything which isn’t a City win.
Brentford haven’t played as much football as they would have liked to because of postponements from the Premier League, we aren’t sure the Bees are going to be ready to face arguably the dominant team in the world when they’re scoring at this rate.
