Brentford v Everton Preview - Premier League Week 13

Everton go in search of a first win from their last six games when they take on Brentford at the Community Stadium on Sunday. Recent Form

Brentford made a blistering start to the campaign having beaten Arsenal 2-0 in their opening match before going on a strong run, though currently sitting at 14th in the table the Bee’s would be in a much better position if they hadn’t picked up just one point from their last five outings.

However, The Toffees have only managed two points from their last six Premier League games, registering draws against Tottenham and Manchester United.

Their poor form as of late is due to the fact that they have seven players who are currently recovering from various injuries and Richarlison will miss the next game after receiving his 5th yellow card of the season.

Those injuries are enough for the bookies to make the hosts favorites for this clash. The London side have managed to at least find the net in 11 of their last 13 clashes, with both of the exceptions finishing 1-0 against Brighton and Chelsea.

Despite being favourites to win the game, the Bee’s have a relatively poor home record this season with their only such win coming in the first game of the season against the Gunners.

Since that 2-0 victory they have gone on to lose four out of their last five with a draw against Liverpool being their only saving grace, and they’d actually be in the relegation zone based on home form exclusively.

That’s not necessarily a fair reflection though as they’ve faced Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Leicester all on home soil so far, which is a tough run to say the least.

Draw At HT Or 0-0 At HT

These two teams have played each other once in the last 60 years, this was a league cup game in 2010 which saw Brentford get a victory on penalties after drawing 1-1 through 120 minutes of play, though with the last meeting over a decade ago it’s hardly worth noting when finding a bet for this game.

When Everton have played against newly promoted sides, away from home, they have a record W8-D4-L3 over the last five seasons. Amongst these games, at half-time eight of them have been a draw with five of them being 0-0 draws.

This season away from home, Everton have only scored 33% of their goals in the first half, while Brentford are even more of a second half side with just 29% of their goals coming before the break.

That leaves the half time draw the most appealing option for a game that could easily go either way based on current form.

While Brentford tend to concede more after the break than earlier on, the lack of attacking prowess for the visitors without Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison is going to hamper them badly, so for a longer bet there seems to be value in this game being goalless at the break.

PREDICTION:

DRAW AT HT OR 0-0 AT FT
