Aston Villa v Tottenham Preview - Premier League Week 32

Aston Villa and Tottenham bring the curtain down on Saturday's Premier League action when they clash in the late kick-off. Recent Form

Over the course of Aston Villa’s last six games, they have gone from winning three on the bounce to losing three on the bounce.

Steven Gerrard has definitely made an impact since his arrival at Villa Park with a record of W8-D2-L9, which is a massive improvement on Dean Smith’s record before he got sacked in early November of W3-D1-L7.

Despite that improvement, it’s just one win in six home matches now for the midlands side, and they may struggle here against Antonio Conte’s travelling Spurs.

With Champions League football looming for Tottenham, this is a must-win game after Arsenal’s slip up at Selhurst Park.

The Lilywhites have scored more goals than any other side since the start of the New Year despite losing five of their 13 games in that period. Spurs’ star men, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have been playing extremely well recently and have contributed to 19 separate goals since the start of the year.

Their form will be a key factor in Spurs getting the result they need here and keeping them in good nick will be imperative in their push for the top four.

Spurs looked to be bowing out of the top four race after a run of four defeats in five outings, coming against Chelsea, Southampton, Wolves and Burnley, but in-between they managed to pull off an outrageous 3-2 win over the reigning champions City.

This gives a good example of the unpredictable nature that the currently assembled Tottenham side suffers from, though they look to be finding some kind of momentum now with five wins from their last six games, with a 3-2 defeat to Man United the only blemish in that run.

Over 2.5 Goals

Both sides have had a decent amount of match goals recently and we think an overs bet would work well here.

Five out of Spurs’ last six matches have finished with +2.5 goals markets coming off and four out of Villa’s last six also resulting in the same outcome.

As we said earlier, no team has scored more than Spurs in the new year and we think they are certainly the in-form team when it comes to finding the net.

The bookies are offering longer odds than we were expecting for a Tottenham match result, even though Tottenham's away form under Conte is W5-D2-L3 is quite decent.

A draw would be a surprise result when considering that both managers have drawn a combined total of just five games in the 39 matches they have managed at their two clubs.
