Aston Villa v Arsenal Preview And Predictions - Premier League Week 30

Aston Villa and Arsenal get Saturday's football action underway when they clash in the early kick-off. With the FA Cup quarterfinals also taking place this weekend, the clash at Villa Park will be the only Premier League game of the day. Both Villa and Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways following losses to West Ham and Liverpool respectively, the Gunners in particular needing the win if they are to consolidate their fourth place in the table. Recent Form

Aston Villa had won three in a row before going to the London Stadium to play West Ham, a narrow 2-1 defeat which they won’t be losing sleep over. Even though the game finished 2-1, the first goal was scored in the 70th minute by the Ukrainian Andriy Yarmolenko, who was reduced to tears after netting his first goal since the crisis started in his homeland.

Arsenal have been on a charge for fourth place in recent weeks, even if they did suffer a setback on Wednesday as they went down 2-0 to Liverpool. They had however won nine of their previous 11 league games, as the only other defeat was inflicted by Man City.

Their away form should be a key factor in this matchup though, given the Gunners have only garnered 19 points from 12 away days this season, which is not good enough for a team that wants to play in the Champions League next season.

Arsenal will still be without Takehiro Tomiyasu for this game as he remains sidelined, with Cedric Soares set to deputize once more. Aston Villa will certainly miss Marvelous Nakamba and Lucas Digne, while Calum Chambers and Douglas Luiz are expected to recover in time to start the game.

Over 3.5 Goals

Since Aston Villa got promoted back into the Premier League at the start of the 2019/20 season, they’ve won more than lost against the Gunners (W3-L2), including doing the double over Arsenal last year with an aggregate 4-0 scoreline over the two games.

Over the course of these meetings there were 14 goals shared between the two teams, bringing the average match goals to just under three.

Throughout this season, Aston Villa have had 3.38 match goals per home game and over 3.5 goals in 46% of them. It’s a similar story for Arsenal with an average of 3.17 match goals per away game, as well as over 3.5 goals in exactly 50%.

Moreover, across Villa’s past five at home, four resulted in +3.5 markets coming true, and the same goes for five of Arsenal’s last seven on their travels.

PREDICTION:

OVER 3.5 GOALS
