A Liverpool Casino is getting behind Macmillan Cancer Support with a fundraising drive inspired by colleagues who are battling the disease.
Genting Club Queen Square is hosting a special charity night at its 1880 Bar on Friday 27 March with proceeds from the £10 tickets going to the cause. The evening will feature a charity auction, entertainment from singer Michelle Lawson and a DJ, plus canapés for guests.
A green cocktail made from Prosecco and Kiwi to reflect Macmillan’s theme colour will add to the occasion, with £1 from each sale going to the charity.
People who dine early in the casino’s Fahrenheit restaurant up to 7.30pm can enjoy a three-course meal and entry to event for £21.95 where £10 goes to Macmillan. Registration fees from the night’s poker competition will also be donated.
Enthusiastic staff will get the fundraising off to a cracking start on Monday 23 March with a sponsored five mile walk from Genting Club Queen Square to Sefton Park completing one lap of the park and then back to the casino. On Sunday 29 March Paul Fox, a casino pit boss, will run the Liverpool Half Marathon and on Sunday 19 April a number of the team will join the Run for the 96 5K event.
Carole Poulson, General Manager at Genting Club Queen Square, said: “We wanted to raise money for Macmillan because it does such fantastic work for people with cancer and their families. We are sure our customers will get behind us and enjoy a memorable night.
“Cancer touches so many people and we are no different. At our club we have one member of staff who is undergoing treatment for the disease and a member of our management team, Kathy Lever, is seriously ill. This has spurred us on to do something for Macmillan in order to show our support for these courageous special people.”
