THE FIRST MISS & MR GENTING STOKE ARE CROWNED
There was double delight at Genting Casino Stoke as the winners of the first Miss and Mr Genting Stoke competitions were announced.
Olivia Green, 20, from Skegness who works as an administrator and police cadet was crowned Miss Genting Stoke, whilst personal trainer Jake Mcarthur, 24, picked up the title of Mr Genting Stoke.
With inspirations to one day become a Chief Inspector like her grandfather, Olivia was selected as the judge’s choice out of the eight ladies competing at this year’s Miss Genting Stoke competition. Meanwhile Jake beat off stiff competition from five other finalists to take the Mr Genting Stoke title.
Both Olivia, who was sponsored by New Image Hairdressing, and Jake have now been invited to compete at the Miss and Mr England Grand Finals at Resorts World Birmingham on the 12th - 14th July 2017.
First runner-up and second runner-up places in the Miss Genting Stoke competition went to Georgia Blades-Richardson from Newark and multi skilled performer, Jodie Duckworth, who came third in the contest, whilst runner up in the Mr Genting Stoke contest went to British soldier Joyde Wilson from Ipswich.
Nicky Clements, general manager at Genting Casino Stoke commented: “We are delighted to have hosted the first ever Miss and Mr Genting Stoke contests – it was a fantastic evening for all involved with a great atmosphere throughout. The crowd especially loved the talent performances, which included an amazing stilt walking and singing performance from Jodie Duckworth and a captivating belly dance from Sehar Zam.
“Olivia and Jake were both worthy winners and we would like to wish them the very best of luck in the Miss and Mr England finals.”
Along with the winners and runners-up, four Miss Genting Stoke award winners were announced on the night in recognition of their hard work during the contest and in the lead up to the event.
Sehar Zam, sponsored by Sehars Closet, was announced as the winner of the Miss Genting Stoke Top Talent category, following her exotic belly dancing routine.
Meanwhile, the winner of the public vote category, Georgia Blades-Richardson, was crowned as Miss Popularity Genting Stoke. For winning the title she is now invited to compete at the Miss Popularity Heat on 10th June 2017 at The Sanctuary Workshops in Leicester and as first runner up gains a place in the Miss England semi final at Kelham Hall on June 4th. Georgia will compete against other regional/heat popularity winners for the chance to reach the Miss England Grand Final.
Olivia Green, sponsored by New Image, was crowned as Miss Charity Stoke for raising awareness and £677 for the Miss World Beauty with a Purpose charity through a series of fundraising events, including a two mile sponsored swim with her 70 year old Nan.
Finally, the Social Media Queen was won by Layla Griffiths. Layla, sponsored by Beehive Social Media, secured the most likes, shares and comments on social media by engaging with all of the charities for whom she fundraises.
Miss England national director Angie Beasley commented: “These competitions are about being beautiful inside and out, we are not just looking for a pretty face or a body builder. We are looking for competitors who are role models, who want to make a difference and become involved with charity work, have personality and who will represent their country well at both a national and international level.
“That is exactly what we found in Stoke – it was a fantastic evening and I would like to congratulate all of the winners. I would also like to say a huge thank you to all of the contestants for their hard work and for helping to raise more than £1,000 for the Beauty with a Purpose charity.”
