Birmingham Hit a Bullseye
In January, Genting International Casino welcomed three of the world’s best darts players to the casino for a very special charity event.
Michael van Gerwen, the current World Number One, former World Champion Raymond van Barneveld and the Australian Simon Whitlock, were all in attendance for an evening that was billed as ‘Darts with the Stars.’
On the night, the darts superstars took on a handful of local competition winners, who were lucky enough to have won the opportunity to face the pros in their own 501 challenge. Unfortunately, despite their very best efforts, none of them were able to beat the superstars on the night!
Later in the evening, Michael van Gerwen faced off against a select number of casino staff in a charity play-off which raised a total of £2,500 money for Dementia UK.
Dave Scott, General Manager at Genting International Casino, said: “It was a thrill to have three of the world’s leading dart players with us at Resorts World Birmingham. Many of our regular guests love sport of all kinds and so to bring some of the best in the world to the venue to see them play live is something that is proving very popular.
“Although all our competition winners struggled to beat Michael, Raymond or Simon, everyone had a wonderful time and it is fantastic that we were able to donate £2,500 for Dementia UK.”
