Man Utd v Sevilla Preview - Europa League Quarterfinal

Manchester United are set to take on Sevilla on Thursday night in the Europa League quarterfinal first leg. The game will take place at Old Trafford on 13 April with kick-off being at 8 pm GMT.

United, who won the competition in 2017, will face the most successful team in Europa League history in Sevilla, who last won it in the 19/20 season. Though the Carabao Cup win brought optimism back to Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag has since seen his United side attain mediocre results in the Premier League and lose key players to injury and suspension.

Sevilla have also seen up-and-down results recently and they lost their last Europa League match in a defeat to Fernabache in the 2nd leg of the round-of-16. The club are currently sitting in 13th-place in La Liga and the Europa League represents the only silverware Sevilla can win this season.

Sevilla The Scourge Of United

Manchester United are no strangers to Sevilla after the Spanish club famously dumped them out of the Champions League back in March 2018, defeating them 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Sevilla returned again to eliminate United from the Europa League back in 2020 before going on to beat Inter Milan in the final.

Rashford A Doubt

The red-hot Marcus Rashford is enjoying his best-ever season in professional football and Erik ten Hag recently admitted that his side are a little bit too reliant on the form of the Englishman. United will most likely play against Sevilla without Rashford, however, as the forward suffered a groin injury against Everton and appeared to hobble off the field when the game concluded.

The 25-year-old remains a doubt for the next few games, meaning Ten Hag will indeed have to adapt without his star-man.

Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Anthony, and Wout Weghorst remain fit, though.

Acuna Ruled Out For Sevilla

Sevilla will arrive at Old Trafford without World Cup-winning defender Marcos Acuna, who is set to miss the game due to a recent red-card.

The club will also be without former Man United full-back Alex Telles, who is ruled out due to an acclimation of yellow cards.
