Aso has been the beneficiary of some leniency from the assessor since his third at Exeter last month and now finds himself rated 5lb lower. The Venetia Williams inmate is likely to run a sound race but he hasn't won since New Year's Day 2019 and he's got the burden of top-weight here. At the prices therefore, he's taken on.

Christmas In April has rather lost his way after a pleasing comeback at Carlisle in the autumn, ensuring he has questions to answer now.
Indy Five ran well at Catterick last time and could be a player under bottom weight but KAUTO RIKO gets the nod.

He gave Two For Gold a race at Doncaster in December - with that rival Grade 1-placed recently at Ascot and, after being pulled up at Cheltenham on New Year's Day, has since run very respectably in the Grade 2 Cotswolds Chase back there in January when fourth behind Chantry House.

He was only beaten 11-lengths that afternoon and could find this assignment much more to his pleasing.

Selection: Kauto Riko

Next Best: Aso

1.50 - BetVictor Greatwood Gold Cup Handicap Chase (Grade 3, 2m4f)

Dublin Four scored here over 2m4f in November on first start having joined Fergal O'Brien and he was making good ground late on at Ludlow (3m) in December when he crashed down late on. He could have more to offer with stable jockey Paddy Brennan taking over now.

Glen Forsa ended a long barren spell when scoring at Musselburgh last month and may attempt to build on that from 5lb higher for Charlie Longsdon.

Senior Citizen, Paint The Dream and Amoola Gold all make some kind of appeal, with the last-named probably the one to be with after a good run at Warwick three weeks ago for Dan Skelton.

Kildisart hasn't been spotted since the Ladbrokes Trophy here in November and should find this easier but TAMAROC DU MATHAN is given a chance to shine.

He's not achieved a lot in two runs this season but the most recent of those came early last month amid some real struggles for Paul Nicholls' team. The Ditcheat squad have now come out the other side and are starting to fire.

On his second start after a wind operation, he's down to a handy mark of 142 and this Grade 2-wining novice could have more to come.

Selection: Tamaroc Du Mathan

Next Best: Dublin Four

2.27 - Download The BetVictor App Novices' Handicap Hurdle (2m½f)

More Saturday afternoon success beckons for Gary and Jamie Moore here with MARK OF GOLD. The gelded son of Golden Horn is already 2-4 over hurdles this term. His defeats behind I Am Maximus (fourth, this C&D) in December and Aucunrisque (second) at Plumpton (2m, soft) have been advertised since and successive maiden/novice wins at Plumpton in recent months suggest he's progressing nicely.

He won as a long odds-on shot was entitled to last time and an opening mark of 118 might be underestimating this improving five-year-old.

Punctuation has gone up 11lb for winning at Warwick in January on first start for new trainer Fergal O'Brien and will need more, while Flinteur Sacre was well behind him that day but is on much better terms here and could be a factor if settling better in the race.

Irish Hill won on hurdles bow at Taunton in December for Paul Nicholls after arriving with plenty experience from the Flat in France. He was sent off favourite at Ascot the following month and folded tamely in a race won impressively by Triumph Hurdle hope Doctor Parnassus for the Skeltons.

He's surely better than he showed that afternoon and, again, with the yard in better form now, should put the record straight.

Selection: Mark Of Gold

Next Best: Irish Hill

3.02 - Make Your Best Bet At BetVictor Handicap Hurdle (2m½f)

Lord Baddesley was fourth in the Betfair Hurdle here last month and is a former C&D winner to boot. That run here three weeks ago represented a return to form and, if he builds on that now, he ought to harbour excellent claims in this lesser setting.

Glory And Honour has the ability for sure but with two falls in his last three starts, the jumping remains a worry for him.

Wild Max is another Paul Nicholls runner on this card worth monitoring. He's without a win since December 2020, but last month's Musselburgh fourth was a step back in the right direction and he races here from 4lb lower in the ratings.

Kerry Lee's BLACK POPPY is the choice, however. His efforts in novice company at Huntingdon and Kempton in December were solid and he made a winning start to life in handicaps at Hereford (2m, good) on the last day of January.

He faced a sustained challenge from Just The Man heading to the final bend and, despite a good jump at the last, was headed by the eventual runner-up afterwards.

It looked for the world as though he'd settle for second-best at that point, but he redoubled his effort and got back up for a neck win. He's surely got more to offer and a 5lb rise looks fair.

Selection: Black Poppy

Next Best: Lord Baddesley

3.37 - BetVictor Non-Runner-No-Bet At Cheltenham Seniors' Handicap Hurdle (2m4½f)

Dorking Boy is a C&D winner in the past and Tom Lacey's charge has been in fine fettle in recent months, following up a win at Taunton with a close second at Huntingdon. Nudged up a further 2lb, he should be in the shake-up again.

Others to arrive in good nick include Stormy Flight, Bold Plan and Kateson - the last-named having run well in a better race at Ascot in January.

SONG OF THE HUNTER starts life for new handler Harry Fry here and could be one to go well. He showed definite promise last season over hurdles for Johnny Farrelly and things just didn't work out for him in two chase starts with Tim Vaughan earlier this term.

Back over timber now, with Bryan Carver taking 3lb off his back, this eight-year-old may outrun his odds.

Selection: Song Of The Hunter

Next Best: Kateson

4.12 - BetVictor Play Pick 6 For Free Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (2m7½f)

Jamie Snowden's SOLDIER OF DESTINY was having just his second chase start when he won at Ffos Las (2m3½f, soft) last month, his first outing post wind operation, and he did that quite stylishly in the end. The third won next time, while two of the other beaten horses have shone positive light on the form.

This longer trip promises to suit the Presenting gelding well and there's potentially more to come from him. He gets the nod to follow up.

Major Dundee won at Fakenham (2m5f, good) and Bangor (3m, soft) before Christmas and is a solid rival for the selection as the Alan King inmate bids to continue his perfect start over fences after a short layoff.

Venetia Williams' Hereford scorer Fuji Flight ensures a trio of last-time-out-winners compete here, while Striking A Pose and Mont Des Avaloirs shouldn't be crossed off with any great haste either in a wide open race.

Selection: Soldier Of Destiny

Next Best: Major Dundee

4.47 - Visit Irish Store Sales With ITM Open NH Flat Race (2m½f)

Firestream had plenty in hand when scoring at Exeter over this sort of trip in January, confirming the promise of earlier solid efforts at Ascot and the same track. Anthony Honeyball's son of Yeats is in a better race now and has a penalty to defy.

So, too, does Fontwell winner Hardy Fella for Chris Gordon. He was another coming good at the third attempt (first start for this trainer) and he got to boss matters in front the whole way. The duo may need further improvement as they concede the weight today.

Newcomers Weveallbeencaught and Collectors Item represent excellent yards and should be monitored closely but perhaps CAPTAIN DESTINY will put to good use the experience of finishing second over C&D in January.

He was no match for odds-on winner Authorised Speed that day but Gary Moore's charge had the benefit of experience himself and has since run well back here in a Listed bumper. With the Nicholls string now clearly on the up, this is a decent chance for Captain Destiny to go one better.

Selection: Captain Destiny

Next Best: Weveallbeencaught
