Title Shot At Stake For Joyce
Joyce won the WBO interim heavyweight title back in September 2022 and the Juggernaut brought his record to 15-0. Should the Brit win on 15 April, then he’ll be in line for a deserved shot at the world title.
Joyce does, however, face stiff opposition in Zhilei Zhang, who has lost only one fight out of his 26 professional ones. The Chinese fighter’s only blemish came against Filip Hrgovic last year and Zhang will be keen to avenge himself.
There were mitigating circumstances in both of Zhang’s blemishes, however, and fans could argue that the fighter either lost unfairly (as was the case in his fight against Hrgovic) or was simply not in ring-shape (as was the case in his 2021 draw with Jerry Forrest) at the time of the fight.

Joyce is currently the favourite to win as it’s believed that his high-octane, relentless style will be too much for even the talented Zhang to handle. The East Asian has good stamina and a strong counter-punch game and he can never be discounted for an upset victory. Whatever happens at the Copper Box Arena, fans can expect a long-lasting, hard-hitting fight.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming fight, Joyce praised Zhang by calling him a ‘’big, strong southpaw who is massive’’, before adding that he’ll ‘’have to watch out’’ for the Chinese’s quality.
Zhang was equally-impressed with Joyce, stating that the battle will be an ‘’explosive, epic, and tremendous fight’’. Boxing fans will be hoping that his prediction comes true, and the skill of the two fighters involved means that a classic could be on our hands.
