Recent Form

After a good run of form with 12 points from six unbeaten matches, Newcastle have now lost back to back games. They can be excused from the first one against Pep Guardiola’s Man City, especially considering they were without star player Allan Saint-Maximin, though the 5-0 scoreline would have worried Steve Bruce, while they also threw away a lead against relegation threatened Watford to go down 2-1 at the weekend.

Man City having their suspension overturned is a dagger in the heart for Spurs, as they’ll now need to overthrow either Sheffield United or Wolves to have any chance of qualifying for the Europa League next season, and a quick look at their away record would suggest it certainly won’t be an easy three points here.

Newcastle +1 Handicap

They’re a measly W3-D7-L7 on the road this season, with all three victories coming by single goals margins, and two of them coming courtesy of 90th minute winners, so we certainly can’t see a drubbing of any sorts.

They are coming off the back of a confidence boosting victory in the North-London Derby, though consistency has been a real flaw of the Jose Mourinho era.

They’ve lost three of their last five winless road trips across all competitions now and we’re surprised to see them as odds-on favourites for this one.

Both Teams To Score

The Northern outfit have only lost one of their last nine home games across all competitions (W3-D5-L1), with that defeat coming in the cup against the Citizens, so they have every chance of getting a result.

They have a W3-D3-L2 record up against the current top half of the table on home soil, and the double chance on them again here looks to hold considerable value at the current prices.

That’s not to suggest the visitors won’t find the net though, as they’ve scored in 13 of their 17 road trips this season, despite picking up just three wins.

However, we certainly can’t see the hosts drawing a blank either, with the Lilywhites having kept just two away clean sheets all season, both coming against relegation candidates Watford and Bournemouth, so the both teams to score market looks to be another decent bet.

Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron were absent for Newcastle’s demolition by City, massively limiting their counter-attacking capabilities. Without the Frenchman alone in the starting line-up the Magpies have an abysmal 7% win rate from their 15 games, while they’ve lost just five of the twenty he’s started in, with all five of those defeats coming on the road, so we’re happy to ignore Spurs at the prices considering the pacey winger should be on the pitch from the off.

Both Teams To Score At 4/5

Newcastle +1 Handicap At 19/20
