LIVERPOOL, WOLVES AND CHELSEA ALL TO WIN AT 7/1 HERE!

Recent Form

This weekend saw a tale of two captains for these sides. Liverpool extended their unbeaten home run to 45 league games when goals from captain Jordan Henderson and Mo Salah overturned Harry Kane’s early finish to reinstate their six-point lead at the top of the table.

Arsenal, on the other hand, look a team in slight disorder at the moment having squandered a two-goal lead to a visiting Crystal Palace, while captain Granit Xhaka got heated with the home support after being substituted, leaving his position in the post in jeopardy.

Despite their eight titles being the most in EFL cup history, the Red’s record of reaching the latter rounds in recent years has not been as prevalent.

They’ve now only won one of their last seven fixtures against Premier League opposition in this cup, including defeats in each of the last four, indicating their relative lack of depth as Jurgen Klopp is accustomed to making drastic changes in his line-ups as he prioritises higher profile competitions.

The Gunners have also traditionally enjoyed a positive experience in the League Cup, having at a minimum reached the quarter-finals for 10 successive years from the 2003/04 season onwards, but having only once progressed past that stage in their last eight attempts, it seems their resolve has wavered.

Changes Expected

Current form is difficult to go off as we’ll likely see a few changes to the starting teams, but with the history between these two, neither manger will want to gift the other a pass to the next round.

Emery will almost certainly field some of his senior players to try and save his job if not for anything else. However, the likes of Joe Willock, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli will likely feature at some point, having forced their way into the Spaniard’s first team on occasions this term.

Add Matteo Guendouzi to the mix and the Arsenal youth certainly looks to be outgunning the Reds’ development players, even if they have both Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Over 3.5 Goals

For all that is said about the Gunners’ woeful form on the road, they’ve in fact only lost twice from their last eight trips across all competitions, as they beat the likes of Valencia and Frankfurt in the Europa League, whilst also drawing at Old Trafford.

They may have been defeated here at Anfield in that time, but that was against an out and out Liverpool first team, which we’re unlikely to see this Wednesday. Klopp will surely ring the changes to keep his side fresh for their top priorities this term – winning a first league title in 30 years and retaining their Champions League trophy.

For that reason, we’ll avoid backing them in the outright and instead look elsewhere for value. Nine of 11 meetings between these two sides have seen more than three goals since December 2014, as have all seven at Anfield since February 2014 and that looks the way to go.

Over 3.5 Goals At 5/4
