Everton have held their last four opponents scoreless at Goodison Park. Will Burnley draw a blank in Friday’s Premier League clash? We offer trends, analysis and odds

Everton vs Burnley - Premier League Betting Preview

Two in-form teams clash in the Premier League’s edition of Friday Night Lights. Everton have won four of their last five, while Burnley’s run of four games without defeat disappeared by the slimmest of margins with a 1-0 defeat at home to champions Manchester City on Sunday.

Everton have an outside chance of finishing seventh, which is likely to provide Europa League football next season. They are ninth in the table, currently on 50 points, four behind seventh-placed Wolves with two games remaining.

They host a Burnley side who have 10 points less but who are safe from relegation in 15th place.

Everton have lost just one of their last six Premier League games – when surprisingly going down 2-0 at relegated Fulham. They quickly bounced back to defeat Manchester United 4-0 at Goodison Park and are to are 8/13 to beat Burnley.

The Clarets beat Wolves, Bournemouth and Cardiff before a spirited 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and a narrow defeat by City on Sunday. Each team could have a large say in who qualifies for the Champions League as Everton travel to Tottenham, while Burnley host Arsenal on the final day of the season.

Marco Silva’s Toffeemen have picked up in recent weeks, holding Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United scoreless in their last four at Goodison. The Genting Casino Premier League odds are 11/10 for Everton to keep another clean sheet on Friday.

Burnley have scored at least twice in their last three away games at Liverpool, Bournemouth and Chelsea, and Sean Dyche’s side are 5/1 to inflict a 15th league defeat upon the Merseyside club.

The Clarets have scored at least once in seven of their last eight league games and it is 8/13 that they grab at least one goal at Goodison Park (over 0.5 goals).

TEAM NEWS

Everton are likely to be without Yerry Mina, who has not played since coming back from international duty with Colombia with a hamstring injury. Full-back Lucas Digne, who has been one of Everton’s standout players this season and who has weighed in with four goals, is also a fitness doubt, but Brazilian forward Richarlison is set to play, having recovered from a rib injury. He is rumoured to be on Manchester United’s radar.

Burnley are likely to again be without Steven Defour, but Dyche may bring both Peter Crouch and Aaron Lennon back into the squad.

Crouch has been absent since early April having undergone an appendix operation while Lennon has had knee surgery. Both have been in training for the last couple of weeks.

BANK ON BURNLEY TO SCORE?

Burnley have managed to score in seven of their last eight Premier League games, with Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes scoring three apiece in that span.

They have also been prone to conceding, with just two clean sheets in the last 14 outings in all competitions, and Dyche’s side are 15/4 to buck that trend and keep Everton scoreless.

Five of the last seven meetings yielded three goals or more, but that has not been a trend when the sides meet at Goodsion Park, where six of the last eight meetings saw fewer than three goals scored. It is 17/20 for under 2.5 total goals this time.

No less than 15 of the last 20 meetings saw both sides net and Burnley have managed to score in five of their last nine trips to Goodison. It is 17/20 that both sides find the net on Friday.

However, the Clarets have not scored on three consecutive trips to Everton since 1965 and that trend means the odds for Everton to win to nil are 6/4.

Each side has won five of the last 10 meetings, so the draw is perhaps overdue and the odds for a stalemate are 3/1, while a goalless draw, which has occurred just once in 72 meetings – in the FA Cup in January 1967 – dating back to 1924, is available at 7/1.

Everton won the reverse fixture 5-1 at Turf Moor on Boxing Day, and Silva’s side are 15/4 to win by -2 goals on the handicap and are 6/1 to win 2-0.
