Manny Pacquiao is ‘one punch away’ from serious injury, ‘he needs to put a stop to it’
“Pacquiao doesn't stand the chance at all against any of the other champions if he wins. I think he just then needs to probably call it a day again after the fight.
“He can say he came back and won it, but then gave it up again and gave someone else a chance to fight for it. That'd be nice.
“He’s always got one punch away from getting hurt. I think it's just a bit silly doing that [continuing to fight]. Look, financially he's secure, and he’s always one punch away from getting hurt, and you're not going to recover as quickly as normal.
“I think he needs to just really put a stop to it really. Or maybe if he doesn't want to keep on fighting, then needs to fight on the same level as him.”
The deadline for Manny Pacquiao showdown is my 40th birthday
“The best time for it [a comeback] is now, your hands do get itchy. You want to get back in the ring again, but there’s nothing that really excites me.
“It’s Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather. Pacquiao vs. Khan would do massive numbers, that would be an exciting fight. I know he's fighting Barrios and it'll put him back in the mix again for a world title.
“But he knows what makes him money, and what makes him money is a fight with me, or Mayweather, the big super fights. I'lldefinitely take it. I'd love to share a ring with a legend like him, but I'llprobably draw the line at 40 years old.
“If I ever did do anything it has to be before 40. I’m comfortable financially, and I've got a good name, but you do miss those arenas. By 40 years old I think I'll never look at it again.”
If I faced Mario Barrios this weekend I would beat him, his style is made for me
“100% I'd beat Marios Barrios, I've sparred with him.
“I know him, he's a style that's made for me. Look, I don't want to be disrespectful, he's a great fighter, but I just feel I'm a better fighter than him even now being out of the ring.”
Manny Pacquiao ‘still dangerous’ at 46, he will become world champion again
“He's got a great opportunity to win this fight. Barrios is one of the weakest champions, in my opinion, but I know how hard Barrios has worked, so he deserves it more than anyone.
“There will be a lot of moving in this fight, there'll be a lot of boxing. It'll be more boxing. It won't be a fight. It'll be more boxing and skillful and tactical.
“I think we’ll see a version of Manny that’s slower, less work rate, and less punches, but the power's gonna be there. I think it's still got that power and he's got them sharpshooting shots, so he’s still dangerous and will have enough to win.”
Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao are returning for the same reason, it’s not money
“People think Manny and Ricky are coming back because they need the money and they're going broke. No, it's not that. It's the excitement that they miss.
“It's the training camp, It's the routine, it's being involved in the sport. It's having your name lit up,it’s giving your fans another chance to watch.
“Ricky lives a very comfortable life. He lives a very simple life, a normal life. He's not flashy or anything. And he’s just doing it because he misses a sport.
“He's not doing it because he needs the money, fighters do it because they miss it, and they miss that hype.”
Ricky Hatton’s opponent lived with me - Ricky is two steps ahead of him in the ring
“Ricky’s opponent Eisa Al Dah trained and lived at my house, I looked after him a lot. He's a very dear friend of mine and I think it's a great fight for Ricky.
“He takes a good shot, but technically I think Ricky is maybe one or two steps ahead, I don’t think he really causes Ricky many problems. Look, every fight is a threat, but I think this is a good fight to come back to for Ricky.
“Also this is a massive opportunity for Eisa to maybe win this, and if he can win this one, then I think it opens more doors for him in Dubai.”
Tyson Fury is done - Usyk ‘has his number’
“I don't think Tyson Fury will ever come back in my opinion. I don't think he'll come back. If he fights Usyk, I think Usyk wins that fight easily again. Maybe easier than the last two.
“Usyk has got his number, he just knows how to beat him and how to do well against him. Usyk obviously has the confidence and then you’ve got Tyson going off and being inactive.
“Usyk is still active, he's still training, still fighting, whereas with Tyson he's taking too much time out, and you're only getting older and slower, you're aging. You're not performing the same. And that’s when ring rust is going to kick in as well.”
‘Very dirty’ Tyson Fury may have the edge in street fight with AJ
“It's a hard one to say really because obviously we know the Gypsy King, he can be very dirty and very rough and strong and hard. But this is a hard one to say, because with Joshua, it only takes one big punch, and Joshua has really crazy power.
“Soit'sa hard one to say, who's going to win that one on the street. But I don't think it'll ever happen, I could put my house on that. That'll never happen.”
100% I would have beaten Mayweather
“100 percent, because breaking it down my speed and punch output would cause Mayweather problems., even though there's a lot of moving from him, and he's got good defense, the speed and power was going to be there.
“A lot of punches were going to be thrown at him and with the distance; I was longer, I had the height, and I had the reach as well, so I'd have been a lot bigger.”
Mayweather is not scared of Pacquiao, his resume is better
“No, it’s not true that Manny thinks Floyd is scared to fight him, because I think Floyd coming back has looked a lot better than Manny when he's been doing the exhibitions.
“You can't fault Floyd. Had a fantastic career, one of the best out there, and you look at the names on the list, and he fought a lot of them at the peak of his career like the Cottos and stuff like that/ In my opinion. Mayweather’s resume is a bit better than Manny's.”
I agree with Roy Jones, Leonard would have beaten Mayweather
“I lean more towards Leonard over Mayweather, thinking about Leonard’s output, more output, more punches.
“Yeah, that's what would give Floyd problems where there were a lot of punches, a lot of big output.”
‘Size doesn't matter’ Dubois has ‘no chance’ of beating Usyk
“Power doesn't matter to him. Size doesn't matter to that guy. He's just a good overall boxer and knows how to use his hands. He will hit you with shots that you're not going to see.
“And he then follows them shots up, so yeah, even if it goes to 12 rounds, I got Usyk winning that fight because Dubois’s going to try to pot shot him all the time.
“So I don't give Dubois any chance, I'm sorry.”
Dubois does not surpass achievements of Tyson Fury and AJ if he beats Usyk
“If Dubois wins it's hard to say he surpassed AJ and Tyson Fury because he's just done it in one fight, whereas these guys have been fighting for many years.
“They’ve been fighting and having these wars with the Wilders and all of these, so it's hard to say that. But If he keeps on winning, he can.
“If he beats Usyk this time and he has to maybe have three or four more good named fighters he has to beat, and then I think he surpasses.”
Carl Froch beats Darren Till ‘all day long’
“Carl still has it as a fighter. He’s kept himself in good shape. But if it’s an MMA fight or a street fight—I’ve got Darren Till. Darren wins that easy.
“But boxing Froch wins all day long. All day long I’ve got Froch winning that fight. I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but both still look in good shape—especially Froch. Froch has always kept himself looking good and in shape.
“I don’t know if it happens, though. These are the kind of things getting thrown around now. Names are being thrown around. Is it for clout? Yeah, maybe. Maybe they’re doing it for a bit of clout and stuff like that.
“One thing about Froch—Froch always comes to fight. He’s always exciting. Whether you like him or you don’t like him, Froch is an exciting fighter. When he comes to fight, you’re going to see bombs.”
Canelo will never fight in the UK because of tax
“There is a massive difference in tax, you're almost 50% tax in the UK when you fight there, whereas in America it’s about 30%, so if you're making like ten million.
“It's only like three million gone in the US, whereas in the UK half of it's gone in someone else's pocket. Then you've got your trainers fees as well. Then you've got your coaches.
“Then you've got your whole team; your dietitian, your training camp, coaches, fees - what are you left with after that? So you make 10 million, for example.
“Training camp costs you about a million, then tax at 30% in America. That's four million there. And then maybe half a million for sanctioning fees and stuff like that.
“So Canelo would be left with like 5.5 million in America, whereas in the UK he's going to be left with like 3.5 million.”
Canelo has ‘half a mind outside boxing’ he will lose to Crawford
“He’s fighting Crawford now, and watching his last couple of fights, he gets caught more. His feet are slow—not as fast as they used to be. His punches are slow, but he still has the power. He can hurt you.
“Now, with Crawford going into that, Crawford, in my opinion, is the fresher. He’s not had that many wars compared to Canelo. But Crawford has also had his last couple of fights go the distance.
“But look, it’s a good one. I got a leaning—I think Crawford could pull this off. He’s got good boxing skills. He’s younger. He’s got more in the tank compared to what Canelo has in the tank.
“Canelo—you can see it. I think half his mind is out of boxing now. He’s just doing it for the big paydays, for where he can make the most. And he’s always going to be remembered, regardless of if he loses this fight against Crawford.”
Crawford will be remembered like Mayweather if he wins
“Canelo will always be remembered as a great.
“But with Crawford, that would elevate him—to be someone in the same line as Mayweather, Sugar Ray Leonard. He’d be up there as one of the greats as well. If he wins he also become pound for pound number one.”
I did not feel the shot Canelo hit me with it was so hard
“It was that hard that I didn't feel it—it knocked me out. Which is probably better, to be hit with that one big shot and be knocked out, than being hit with numerous shots that can cause you damage after your career. It has to be the hardest punch I’ve ever taken in a fight.
“He feinted to the body and hit me over the top with that right hand. He caught me a couple of rounds earlier with a left hook—and that was after a feint as well. Because I was only responding to Canelo after throwing shots at him, or him throwing one shot and me coming back. He throws a lot of single shots, but when he feinted—that’s when he caught me a couple of times and knocked me out with that shot.
“It was a good game plan from his team. The first couple of rounds—first two rounds—were quite easy. But that’s when he started bringing in the feints, and that caused a few problems. Also, by feinting, it stopped my feet. A feint stops your feet.”
I’d train Paddy Pimblett ‘for free’ to help him with Ilia Topuria’s striking
“100% I'd like to offer Paddy Pimblett some boxing advice. I live in Dubai. I know he comes to Dubai here and there, if he ever needs any advice on the boxing aside, definitely, we’ll do some pad work with him, help him out on that as well. Show him some stuff.
“I like doing stuff like that, it's all about helping and being there, helping each other and that makes me happy, when I know that I've gone and helped someone, especially in a fighting sport, because they've got a life on the line.
“They're putting their life on the line and if you are there to help them in such a big fight like that, yeah, it would make me happy. It makes me happy, and I'll do that for free as well.”
Jon Jones is the most dangerous man on the planet but a boxing career would ‘mess up his legacy’
“There's no one touching him, honestly, one of the best, and put him in a room with anyone. He's knocking them out. He's cleaning him out. He'svery dangerous.
“He's one guy you don't want to meet in a backstreet, no matter who you are, even if it's like a Mike Tyson, but he's not going to be the same animal in the boxing ring.
“He's gonna make himself stupid. I don't think he ever needs to do that, because he's only going to mess his own legacy up.”
