Ensuring an enjoyable, safe and responsible gaming experience.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility policy covers four areas which are responsible gaming, our people, the local communities in which we operate and the environment.

At the heart of our business philosophy is ensuring we provide our customers with an environment that is enjoyable at the same time as being safe and responsible.

At Genting Casinos we are passionate to ensure that our customers enjoy gaming in an atmosphere that is firmly established on the values of respect, responsibility and professionalism. We invest significantly in staff recruitment and training. Working with partners such as GamCare, we ensure we can respond effectively and quickly to customer needs and concerns and that all our customers feel safe, protected and respected.

Corporate Social Responsibility is very important to us. While our strategy is to provide all of our customers with a first class experience when they visit us, we never allow this to override our commitment to ensuring safe and responsible gambling. We have four key policy areas to ensure Genting Casinos fully plays its role as a responsible corporate citizen.

Local Communities

We are and always want to be an integral part of the local communities where we reside. This translates into being a responsible corporate citizen and minimising any impact our business may have on our neighbours including control of noise, disturbance to local residents and how we maintain our buildings. It is also about how we can support local communities. Our staff engage with and fundraise for local charities and we encourage them to identify local causes that they want to support and that have a positive impact on their local communities and wider society. This locally based activity is strongly supported by the company in various ways so we can all make a positive and lasting contribution to our local area.


As a major casino operator we are vigilant and aware that we must always minimise our impact on the environment. We achieve this by having robust and progressive systems and procedures that cover how we operate our business.

We continue to work to identify and source sustainable and effective ways to minimise energy consumption and our fuel efficiency. All of our casinos work hard to ensure we operate effective waste management and recycling. We are passionate about identifying products and services from sustainable sources.

We have always believed that it is the responsibility of the corporate and individual citizen to play their part and we want and will make every effort to ensure we protect our environment for our local communities and beyond. In doing so, we can make a positive contribution to a sustainable future both locally and nationally.

St. Basils- Birmingham based charity supporting the homeless


Summary of St. Basils.

St. Basils was launched in 1972 as an overnight shelter called the Boot at the rear of the disused St. Basils Church in Digbeth Birmingham. Within three years the charity had developed and opened a further shelter for young women in Yardley. As the charity expanded both financially and in reputation it added counselling services to its key function of providing a safe haven for the city’s young homeless. During the 1980’s several other accommodation units were added including one for young homeless mothers. In the early 1990’s two supportive accommodation units were opened for medium and long stay residents in education and/or employment.

St Basil’s has always maintained as one of its primary aims to support only young homeless people (16-25) and to develop and mentor them to build new independent lives so counselling and skills training is a major part of their output.

The charity has been effective at fundraising and developing its services. A significant part of its activities are publically funded primarily through contracts with Birmingham City Council, Solihull Metropolitan Council and North Worcestershire. The remaining funding is generated through charitable support from Trusts and corporate and event related activities.

The charity is also pioneering, with Government support, a starter home scheme in the city in which employed young people are able to live in affordable homes in which a percentage of the rent is being saved in a fund for the resident to use as a deposit for a home at a later date.

The charity has been effective in attracting long standing partnerships with the corporate community notably companies such as Cadbury who support the annual sponsored walk and the city’s professional services sector who hold a sponsored Sleepout each December.  Companies such as Virgin Trains have been supportive in offering training courses for residents – providing both an external experience away from the project sites and practical skills such as first aid. The company’s locally based staff also volunteered to fund and physically make over the nursery situated at the Edmonds Court Foyer project.

 St. Basils has three core objectives;

  • To provide good quality accommodation which will meet the needs and raise the aspirations of young people.
  • To develop their confidence, skills and opportunities.
  • To prevent homelessness.
