A Southend casino is celebrating after its team was judged the best in the UK.
Genting Club Westcliff on The Western Esplanade won Genting Casino’s Team of the Year in recognition for outstanding customer service, great team spirit and its charity fundraising and community links.
General Manager Simon Woodford, who collected the trophy at Genting Casinos’ annual conference, said: “We’re so proud to win this award for the first time. I have an amazing team at Westcliff and I’m delighted their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication has been recognised.”
Every year Genting’s 37 home market venues across the UK are judged for five different awards including Customer Service and Casino of the Year.

Genting Club Westcliff ranked highly on criteria including customer service feedback and mystery shopper-style visits. The way colleagues support each other and good causes was also taken into account. The team contribute hugely to their local community raising thousands of pounds each year for charities such as Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation, The Southend Mayor’s Charity Aspirations and Fair Havens & Little Havens Hospices, to name just a few.
Up to 180 people, both full and part-time, are employed at Genting Club Westcliff, which has won other accolades such as the Essex Business Awards for Tourism & Leisure.
