Stoke casino?s golden celebrations help hospice charity

Game colleagues at a Stoke casino took to a treadmill and wore fancy dress on a gold theme as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.

The fun at Genting Club in Etruria Road, Hanley, also raised money for Douglas Macmillan Hospice. Customers could donate by guessing the number of golden chips in a bottle and support casino staff who clocked up a total of 50 hours on a treadmill in return for donations.

General manager Nicky Clements said: “We raised £414 for the hospice to support its specialist care. We’d like to thank everyone who gave to the charity and those who came along to our party night to celebrate 50 years of Genting.

“There was a great atmosphere with live entertainment and our gold theme inspired some eye catching costumes.”

One local customer, Steve Andreou had further reason to celebrate. He won a stay at Resorts World Birmingham, the £150 million leisure development which opens later this year, in a free prize draw.

Genting casinos around the UK are holding special activities as it is 50 years since Genting’s founder Tan Sri Lim was inspired to create a hill resort during a visit to Cameron Highlands in Malaysia.
