Southport casino team shows its colours for charity
Community-spirited colleagues from a Southport casino can bet they’ll be covered from head to toe in coloured powder in a charity fundraiser.
A 13-strong team from Genting Club Southport on The Promenade will take part in the Manchester Color Run on Sunday 5 July in aid of children’s charity the NSPCC.
It is the first time the staff have joined the 5K run where entrants are doused in a different coloured powder at every kilometre of the course with more colours thrown at the finish line.
Gaming manager Simon Holt said: “It’s something a bit different and a way of giving back to the community. The NSPCC is a charity a lot of us feel strongly about. We’re collecting sponsorship before the event and hope to raise at least £500.
“It should be great fun too. Some of us are fitter than others so it’s a good job it’s not a race and we can go at our own pace.”
Colleagues with different roles at the casino, from hospitality, gaming, cashiers and the management team, will line up when the run starts from the Etihad Stadium. It will be followed by a DJ set at the Colour Festival Area.
Last year’s event attracted 10,000 people of all ages to run, jog or walk around the route. The Color Run’s official charity partner is the NSPCC, the leading children’s charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands.
