Seafront casino set for major revamp
Seafront casino set for major revamp
Genting Club Westcliff is to undergo an extensive refurbishment to modernise and improve its facilities.
The Club, situated on the seafront and previously known as Maxims, is to have a major facelift inside and out, to update the gaming facilities and create a brand new entertainment area, which will include a new restaurant, contemporary bar, a dance floor and a stage to host regular entertainment.
The new Fahrenheit Bar and Grill, with its views over the estuary, will have space for an additional 20 diners and will serve the highest quality ingredients, including 28 day dry aged ‘Mathers Black Gold’ steaks, from cattle hand selected by a master butcher. The restaurant name is inspired by the unique charcoal fired ‘Josper grills’ which can reach temperatures of 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit and will be used in the preparation of some of the dishes. The barbecue cooking method ensures flavours and juices are locked in to the ingredients to create a superior taste experience.
The current bar will be removed and replaced by the eye-catching, 360 degree circular Fahrenheit bar which will serve a range of drinks, including cocktails mixed by Genting’s specially trained bar staff.
The gaming facilities, including slot machines, Roulette, Baccarat, Blackjack, Dice and Poker will be modernised, and the card room currently situated downstairs will be moved up to the ground floor to make way for a separate function space below. The outside deck will also be enhanced as part of the development to make the most of the views over the Thames Estuary.
The Club, which recently began trading for 24 hours a day to give customers round the clock access to Live Gaming and slots, will remain open throughout the refurbishment, which is due to be completed towards the end of this year.
Genting is currently investing in the recruitment of new, and upskilling of existing employees, to meet the demands of the venue’s extended offering. An additional 14 staff are being trained on how to deal for a range of casino games and there may be further recruitment of hospitality staff as the refurbishment nears completion.
General Manager of Genting Club Westcliff, Simon Woodford, said of the refurb; “Genting Club Westcliff is already a popular destination for local residents and visitors to the area, however, we felt the time was right to update and improve both the gaming and leisure facilities. We plan to continue to offer the very best in gaming in Essex and with the introduction of the Fahrenheit Bar and Grill, we will now have the very best bar and restaurant to match. This will give customers even more reason to visit us and to enjoy the new-look venue when the refurb is complete later this year.”
Managing Director for Genting’s provincial estate, Paul Willcock, said; “Genting Club Westcliff, with its stunning views over the Thames Estuary, is one of our best locations and the plans for this refurb are incredibly exciting and I am confident that we will be offering one of the best all-round entertainment venues in Essex once the work is complete.”
