New General Manager of Bournemouth casino is the real deal

The new general manager of a Bournemouth casino is looking to widen its appeal as a venue for leisure, dining and gaming and forge more links with the local community.

Shirley Vetere, who has worked for Genting Casinos for 29 years, now leads a team of 67 at Genting Casino Bournemouth, Yelverton Road.

One of her first initiatives is to host a buffet celebration to welcome the Thai New Year on 13 April.

Shirley said: “We have a lot of Thai customers so it’s a good reason to make them feel at home. It is likely to appeal to our wider clientele too as it is something a bit different.

“I have certainly been given a warm welcome at Bournemouth by customers and staff. I am excited about my new role and am looking forward to getting to know the local community and to develop closer ties with local businesses.

“We have great facilities here and I want to raise our profile as a social and leisure destination. I am also keen to host more charity and community events here.”

Last summer casino staff did a sponsored walk in aid of the RNLI as part of the venue’s 50th anniversary.

Shirley was previously general manager for ten years at Genting Club Terminus Terrace in Southampton.
